Today is my 21st wedding anniversary. On our first wedding anniversary, we were pretty broke, so hubs made me homemade coupons for massages, but he spelled it wrong, so I got a handful of printed out coupons for 1 Hour of Messages. So, every year since I get something like this:

Looking for suggestions of a friend site or app (not dating...yet) to chat with people with similar interests but would actually let me try to chat with the person instead of hiding the person behind a premium plan. For example, I tried using Bumble BFF, entered my info, had 3 likes from others but it won't show me who they are or to chat with them until I pay a premium plan.

@mattferrell I live in NW Minnesota and I have had to change my medium-good air filter every month to 6 weeks because the air flow would be so bad by then. Not sure what's causing it but it's become noticeably worse this past year.

@bryanhansel I haven't camped in a long time but how do you manage to handle sleeping in a bivy instead of an enclosed tent? Did it take time to get used to doing it or was it not a bother when you started sleeping in one?

New Year has always been accompanied by complex feelings for me. Time has always felt like it was moving too fast, even as a child, and New Year is a stark reminder that another year has come and gone.

A lot of people use this moment to think about how they'd like to change, New Year, New You, but inevitably we are still ourselves. In the end though, I'm the worst person of all, an Optimist. I really believe that things can and do get better, and in the case, of New Year, New You, maybe the old you is pretty good already, and you just did the best you could last year, and you're gonna do your best this year too.

Our time is short, weird, wonderful, heartbreaking, and fascinating. I'm here for it, and I'm incredibly lucky to have this group of people to chat with, empathize with, and learn from. I'm ringing in the New Year with gratitude.

Anyway, as usual that was verbose, but please, tell me your thoughts on the New Year, Anything you want to talk about is fine!

@RickiTarr It's an odd "yin yang" thing for me: I show encouragement and optimism to others around me but I am the worst pessimist to myself. This past holiday season is easily the worst so far because of my failed marriage and being alone for a bit but I was happy when my son was awake with me at Midnight last night and my adult daughter called me shortly after that to wish me a happy new year. This New Year's celebration was very different but it was good to have my kids with me/call me.

Another grey & windy day, another 46km under the wheels 😬✌️

Hoping to reach a half-decent total for the year tomorrow, but I hate being out on New Year’s Eve, thanks to the idiots who throw bangers at cyclists.

There’s already a constant snap & rumble coming from The Hague tonight & it’ll only be worse tomorrow.

The Dutch have an appallingly lackadaisical attitude towards firework safety – I’d ban all personal sales, to be honest.

@markmccaughrean As a man of faith, I loved this movie for many things but I love to say Ellie's Father's quote when others (including my kids) ask whether there's aliens or not out there: "I don't know, Sparks. But I guess I'd say if it is just us... seems like an awful waste of space."

@markmccaughrean Which then gets me to think that some may know there are aliens out there in some way, just covered up, but that's getting to conspiracy theories and I don't want to get down that trail.

I will admit though that I have not read the book yet but I should give it a try one day.

The article is behind a paywall online.

Anyone have any suggestions on what to do?

The riding lawn mower broke a few weeks ago, but i was promised I would get it back in time to take care of fall leaves. But the service company got "too busy" to keep its promise. I called every lawn care company in the book, but they are all too busy, too. This weekend i spent an hour with a leaf blower before deciding that was bullshit nonsense.

Snow is coming today, so i'm just not gonna worry about it. #Minnesota has a way of telling you when enough is enough.
