I've shared Trash Theory videos before but here's another one for the road. The guy's voice is so comforting to me? I just love that he talks about the lore behind all the music I grew up with and plays snippets of the songs he references. He's genius.

This video is about Blue Monday and its myths.

I really want some of this absolutely outlandish orange tartan to make a vest. Actually I would make a jacket and pants suit if I knew I'd wear it often but alas I wouldn't.

I can't afford it right now and I probably don't even need a vest, so I'm going to get some dopamine by sharing it with you.

Uh people are NOT NORMAL. The Daily Mail's fb post about Brittany Higgins getting married is full of rape jokes. No wonder we have a male violence problem in Australia. Absolutely disturbing that people are comfortable commenting this stuff publicly.

I really admire people who have interesting notebooks with every page jam packed full of notes and doodles and stuff. Meanwhile I am over here starting a new page every time I scrawl a few things. Why am I like this? I just can't bring myself to fill pages with unrelated things even though it is interesting and economical.

These are the concerns that occupy my five brain cells.

Very annoyed I don't have four matching buttons to finish off this cardigan made from second hand fabric! Tomorrow is Sunday and my local is closed 😭

I need a recipe app that I can access from my phone and desktop without paying separate fees (UGH RECIPE KEEPER!)

Do you know of anything good? (Also must accommodate proper measurements (metric 😂)

Today I was one of many who helped save two trucks of "we don't know how many" coming from a warehouse full of textiles that was going to be dumped. It was mostly lingerie fabric and trims, all perfectly good and usable. This is why I volunteer at the Lair! So much good shit is sent to landfill and we see .000000001% of it! If that!

I'm not mad at the people clearing the warehouse - it's a sad backstory and it must happen all the time. This is why community is vital, we need to link up and distribute resources that would otherwise be sent to the tip. With these resources we can share low cost and free items that help people make stuff they don't have to buy. We can take down capitalism... Well... A little bit of it.

This was my April Fools today... The joke is that brown is off brand for me and my shop (Fancy Lady Industries.) The second photo is unedited!

I know people hate April Fools jokes but I like a harmless larf at myself.

An unedited photo from the day I shot the previous pic. My t-shirt is in bright yellows with pink, purple and green stars and my bike shorts are actually purple and hot pink. The t-shirt on the wall is hot pink with a v shaped yoke that has long fringing hanging from it. Lucy is still sitting off to the side.

A few years ago I was obsessed with this typeface called Lovadelic (by Ricky Rinaldi) so I spent money on it that I couldn't really afford but I was in a hypomanic era. It really is gorgeous!

I've used it for a logo for Camp Boom (a fat positive camp in New Zealand organised by Jo from House of Boom) and random graphics for my own frivolous purposes and today in my email newsletter.

I feel like I need a more thorough and updated introduction. As per my first post, I'm still a neurospicy crafty lady in recovery from long term mental illness.

I post a lot about daily life as a person with mental illness and type 1 diabetes, I also have a grab bag of other health stuff that I may or may not go into. An ADHD diagnosis is being considered but I feel weird self identifying.

Crafts are very important to me. I have had to monetise my hobbies due to long term unemployability as a mentally ill person. I have sewn for about 25 years, since I was 15! I also crochet, paint and draw and pick up other crafts as my hyperfixations dictate. I'm a uni drop out but I've technically completed a degree in visual arts and I worked as a graphic designer.

I design and sew garments and accessories out of reclaimed fabrics and sell them in my shop - https://www.fancyladyindustries.com

I volunteer for a community run craft and sewing op shop. The charity is dedicated to diverting textiles from landfill and collaborating with local community to learn to sew, amongst other things. We also have a sister charity that sews up useful things for other charities and organisations.

I swear quite a bit, I am an atheist, I like gardening and plants but I'm not sure if they like me, I love dogs a lot, I'm a weird auntie type with zero children by choice, music is very important to me, love bushwalking, injustice makes me mad and I'm trying to react less and be more thoughtful when responding to bullshit right wing nonsense, I loooove watching videos and listening to books about astrophysics and cosmology even though I don't understand a lot of it.

Hills I will die on in no particular order:
→ You don't need to buy as many clothes as you think you do.
→ Rethink, refuse, repair, repurpose, recycle.

→ Always was Aboriginal land, always will be Aboriginal land.
→ Consider adopting a pet before buying a puppy.
→ Fat people deserve love, respect, and humanity.
→ Trans rights.
→ Fuck Nazis.
→ Try to write alt text!

That's a lot. Hi.

I honestly can't be bothered fucking around with AI (I'm trying Copilot). I just asked it to write a product description and it's the most generic and obviously shit writing ever. I could spend another 10 minutes tweaking it but also I could just write the damn thing myself in 2 minutes.

I'm going to try and list my latest trash tees today but it is a hard slog and my brain is crying at the thought of the tedium.

I went to add some pictures of the tshirts to this post but realised they're all in Lightroom waiting for colour balancing and whatnot. I'm gonna throw a tanty.

It's 21°C and I am freezing. I think I am what people are calling "dysregulated".

Why do I feel bad asking Adobe for a discount off their exorbitant plan when they have built the poor artist discount into the price anyway and basically count on people forgetting to ask for a discount?

Anyway I grovelled and thanked the Adobe chat person profusely for the half price discount and free months then blamed myself for being a perpetually poor creative who isn't rich, sexy, or famous enough to spend $90 a month on some computer programs.

Everything is working as it should be on capitalist Earth.

I love and when Australia started to compete I would wake up to watch it but I almost think I prefer to watch the broadcast? I like to not watch anything up to the final so every entry is a surprise, too.

Is anyone from Australia watching it on here? I really miss the livetweeting community on the other site.

I just saw that London has a Craft Week and now I feel like Australia needs a Craft Week too. So many craft skills are disappearing. Sewing is enjoying a resurgence in recent years but crafts like tatting and lacemaking are dying out and traditional craft groups are finding it harder to attract younger people to pass their skills on to.

Australian Craft Week: Because when society collapses we need crafts to carve the paddle that will rescue us from shit creek.

I'm working on a new painting but life keeps rudely interrupting me. Is there a brand of acrylic paint that is nice and opaque and doesn't take five coats to build up? I probably couldn't afford it anyway. 😩

I need to buy more art supplies and while Officeworks is cheaper, they won't have things I need ready for pickup until the 8th of February!!! So I will go out of my way to go to Eckersley's. The biggest issue is that their canvases are a lot dearer and I can't afford one for my budget.

I'm so depressed about being unable to afford art stuff.

eta: Oh I can't pick up an order in store at Eckersley's? I'm gonna cry.
