Chord chart for new track ‘1986’.
Inspired by the All In setting on my UA 1176 compressor, this riff has full chord strumming that needs a thinner pick. This might be the track that requires me to mic the Half Pint. As good as my other amp is into my audio interface, the Half Pint sounds better, even recorded on my iPhone.

@hilljam @shannoncurtis Top shelf SNL skit. Way back in the 90s I called a DJ and played a snip of this skit I had recorded on videotape. Yeah, videotape. I picked a name by random from the Yellow Pages under the Wedding DJ section. Yeah, the Yellow Pages. It was early days for the internet and Shazam was just a comic book character, not the audio genie app we know today. What song is this? I asked the DJ. Without hesitating he answered “What is Love”, Haddaway.

#NPD Cusack Music Project 34 Selenium pre/drive.
It's kind-of like a klon: vol, tone, gain, can boost and/or add dirt.
Has a switch to add bass.
I'd say it's more creamy than fizzy in character.
I don't know where to put it yet... which pedal to take off the board, where to put it in the chain.

@eyesquash Was this the pedal possibly to collect but not use because of its rarity? If so, kudos for plugging it in and making noise with it. 👍🤘🎸

Competitive treadmill, where the daily word is disasters, natural and man-made, people f*cking up and lying, and now, sports and weather.

Where a few excel and are awarded comfort, most don't, and then we all die, having made things just a little bit worse. Most don't know or don't care.

Any escape would be welcome.
And the company of like minds.

Here's some dogwood.

@eyesquash Subdivisions popped into my head when I read this lament although it doesn’t quite fit the sense of injustice, ignorance and greed you’ve expressed here. But these lines are close: “Any escape might to help smooth the unattractive truth…” and “some will sell their dreams for small desires or lose the race to rats. Get caught in ticking traps. And start to dream of somewhere to relax their restless flight.” Peace to you today.

I got my old acoustic professionally set up in the fall and now that it's spring it's time to do it again myself. Action and neck relief seem fine but I have a little buzz on the D and G strings from frets 3-7. I haven't measured the relief but when I test it it clears the frets with a small gap, so it's not bad. I'm trying to figure out what to adjust. Does that sound like a neck relief issue, an action issue, or a fret issue? Or an "acoustics can have a little buzz as a treat" issue.

@patrickworld Oh yeah, this will just add GAS to the fire. Squier makes some affordable models that are well built.

NigelTufnel,
@NigelTufnel@guitar.rodeo avatar

@patrickworld 😅 Do it!! Which model were you dreaming about? I’ve got the Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster, which is really tight but its pickups and bridge are not traditional vintage style. Still sounds and plays great, though.

What are some of your favorite alt guitar tunings?

NigelTufnel,
@NigelTufnel@guitar.rodeo avatar

@ambergrey Drop D and Double Drop D, mostly for Neil Young songs (like most of the Harvest album or Cortez the Killer). I used to know the tuning for Zeppelin’s Rainsong long ago but would have to relearn it now. Funny thing about alt and open tunings I learned years ago: they sound amazing until I realized I was still just playing I IV V chord progressions. 😀

NigelTufnel,
@NigelTufnel@guitar.rodeo avatar

@lminiero @ambergrey I think I prefer using a capo to alt or open tunings for similar reasons. Chord shapes are the same - just a matter of learning what key I’m in when capo is affixed.

NigelTufnel,
@NigelTufnel@guitar.rodeo avatar

@boxspring @GuitarSith @ambergrey ack used to cover “Message” in a band long ago. Those stretches are tough for sure. That song needs two guitars live.

Saw this on JHS and Mike Hermans channels on YT.
If I buy this I become a collector - putting perfectly good pedals on a shelf; my board overfloweth.
But limited runs usually hold their value on Reverb. I didn't buy a Lizard Queen big box and maybe I should have.
- maybe one of you will buy one.

Firebird! More dirt than usual for the rhythm guitars on this track so I hit the challenge of competing frequency airspace when adding a lead overdub. Don’t think I solved it but it’s time to move on. I also wanted a bass-drums single chord groove somewhere in this track, hence the change near the end. The outro solo was one take with 3 pedals (distortion, phaser and tape flanger) maxed for bombast.

NigelTufnel,
@NigelTufnel@guitar.rodeo avatar

@eyesquash @NigelTufnel Thanks for listening, Scott, and for playing along! Did you use a capo on the 1st fret? F minor is a difficult key for guitar if you want them open strings 😀

@ambergrey That sounds like a great signal chain! For the compressor, DAW plug in or separate unit?
