Couldn't resist getting yet another fuzz.

The Fever Dream, by Pine-Box Customs and Mask Audio Electronics is a fuzz with a modulatable resonant filter.

Oh, and a CB radio microphone which runs through the fuzz and filter, naturally.

It's a noisy thing, more than capable of overwhelming your guitar playing with the resonance of the filter. Dial it back a bit, or roll down your guitar's volume, and it's much friendlier.

Well the Presonus Quantum 4848 is removed from the rack and awaiting its final disconnection from my system. The Apogee Symphony arrived at the L&M Ontario depot from California a couple of days ago, so it should be here soon. Getting excited now.

I just got bought from seeing They Live at my local theater. Some thoughts:

  • EXPENSIVE 💸 Three people, some popcorn and a drink: about $70. I could have bought multiple movies on Blu-ray, some snacks, some drinks, and still had money left over.

  • START THE MOVIE ALREADY! ⏰ The ticket time was 7. The countdown on the screen said 7:13. The movie actually started around 7:20.

  • LOUD 🔊 While most of the movie (barring a few moments) was at a fine volume level, the previews were deafening.

Got my pedals back on the floor. Learning how to cleanly start/stop loops while counting and playing. Trying out Pink Floyd’s Breathe, including the slide parts. Bloody difficult but loads of fun when I get it right.

The only way forward is to keep going. I had some idea of the massive healing it would take to come back from a complete burnout event. But I didn’t realize how messy it would feel. It’s a different kind of exhaustion. Almost all my creative flow with music is on pause. But I’m making art again. I haven’t been able to heal that since about 2018 in a meaningful way, and even then, I had total stops and starts because of discouraging situations during school and financial difficulties too.

@ambergrey I can relate! I know it would be great to approach music production with a broader foundation of skills and tools but that’s not how I learn. I’m an amateur and this is a hobby for me. But I’ve learned a few things with recording music because I was inspired to do something specific with a song or chord progression or sound. So I figured out how to do that one thing. Often that’s enough for the moment. Maybe it will add up if I keep at it!
