I pushed myself to go back to work yesterday, but my body rebelled. Today, I stayed home. Tomorrow, I will try again.
It’s different for teachers. When we miss work, we are letting down a bunch of other humans. The guilt is real.
@Saltssaltgirl To say nothing of how involved those muscles are in lifting practically anything—which I bet you’re mostly not allowed to do now (I had abdominal surgery—bilateral inguinal hernia repair—in Feb 2023 so I remember it very well)
@Saltssaltgirl My daughter has taught social studies (mostly American History, regular, honors & AP) for 17 years. Here she is a few days ago with some of her students. I am so proud of her. She is a great teacher full of empathy, compassion and an honest desire to see her students achieve success. In my mind, there is not a job more important than teaching kids.
May 9th, 2016 is a day that changed me forever. Every anniversary brings me anxiety & my PTSD rears its ugly head. But, I made it through today. I’ll take this small win.
