So, this was released today. My third stamp with Canada Post. Qarlinngua (The pants). And technically my second stamp with a family member in it, as the tiny figure in it is my son Travis. Now for one with Hilary in it.

I’ve very proud of all of these, beyond the cache. They are about my home, and family. And also my family has a long history with the Post Office, 101 years. My grandfather, father, and brother were all postmasters in Roblin.

@NunavutBirder that is the most bad ass flex I've seen in forever and a beautiful stamp, too

So, what's the thing, what's the big thing no one can help you with? How do you cope with it?

SpaceAce,
@SpaceAce@esoteric.party avatar

@KateOfMind @RickiTarr I lived in a horrid fog of pain for a blip, like 10 weeks or something, and I realized jeez what a privileged oblivious world we usually live in . I'm so sorry especially you, one of the coolest people ever

OMG Y'all, I found some of my old Christian Girl writing and I'm cracking up. You can see my terrible handwriting! Feel free to share your own handwriting, it doesn't have to be super embarrassing!

Seriously heard someone saying they don't listen to many black artists, because they aren't really into rap. Bitch please, feel free to share songs from Black artists from any genre. Here is one of my favorites, if you like this song please check out her other work:

@WrenArcher @RickiTarr my mom also loved Charley Pride. I still know the words to "Does My Ring Hurt Your Finger" for some reason

SpaceAce,
@SpaceAce@esoteric.party avatar

@RickiTarr no that's fair I think I don't listen to many white artists because I don't like country

Okay, I wanted to make a joke that I can't possibly choose between dogs and cats, I can't even choose between men and women, because I'm bi-furrious. BUT I know y'all would make jokes about me in the comments, because you all are perverts. GET YOUR MINDS OUT OF THE GUTTER!

    It never ceases to amaze me that was considered such a goofy, comical novelty act for covering songs that were 15 years old. "Get a Job" by the was a #1 record in 1958.

    This would be the equivalent of somebody today covering Lady Gaga's "Poker Face."

    I'm rewatching Dropout's Game Changer from the start and it's wild to me how much of my media landscape has this incredible Pandemic Scar across it. It's almost like there was a nuclear war and a couple years of shows just have horribly radiation-damaged footage and at the start of that people acknowledge it and then later on they just...lean in.

She's at what looks like a wonderful little restaurant or bar, she's sitting outside the sun is shining over the water and a guy in the background is playing guitar to entertain them and he's singing WONDERWALL in Spanish

    Back in the 90s there used to be this competing local carrier - the only competition against USWest/Quest/whatever they are now - called I think McClouds?

    Anyway I signed up with em to save some bucks but they were bad for some reason, I forget why. No 411 or something. The point of the story is I remember calling their customer service and it was in Ireland!?! Haha like wow if you think India doing CS is difficult man that was pretty hilarious

    Irish cs phone service. Not a thing now!

    We're idiots and I have anxiety. We misunderstood each other, meters confused us with the trees, and I didn't fight back thinking Kyle knew better than me lol

    We definitely don't have space for two of the three trees we bought yesterday 🫠

    We'll have nice trees to donate (anyone? Lol).

    We'll keep the magnolia, and we got a dappled willow, a weeping larch and a dwarf Korean lilac instead. We feel stupid, but much better with our new choices.

    As I said, we're idiots.

    I need a nonfiction book about music to read. Anyone have any recommendations, either based on what they know I'm into or something that is broad in topic / too awesome to miss for a music nerd? Biographies/memoirs are cool, psychology of music, genre/era/region focused, oral histories...

    SpaceAce,
    @SpaceAce@esoteric.party avatar

    @buffyleigh the best 33 1/3 book is the one about Wire's "Pink Flag"

    Eric Tamm wrote two great books, one on Brian Eno and one on Robert Fripp. The Eno one you can get for free on his website as a pdf or whatever

    Electric Eden: Unearthing Britain’s Visionary Music by Rob Young and Seasons They Change: The Story Of Acid And Psychedelic Folk by Jeanette Leech are two books about the weird UK folk stuff I ramble on about
