Or perhaps the point is not to convert anyone.

Maybe the primary purpose of the campaign to, "raise Jesus' profile" is to act as a giant pep rally for conservative Christians. To embolden them to force their values on society and to pressure their lawmakers to do the same. Maybe it's because they want to ensure Trump and the rest of the GOP panders to their cause. Timing wise, this would be about the right time to remind the party where a lot of their support comes from, you know?

I've been experimenting with and since the 1990s, since QuickTime VR was a thing, trying desperately to capture the beauty of the world.

This is one of my first attempts from 1997 or so. I was on a / trip in National Park and had gotten out of the kayak to scramble to the top of Bowknot Bend. Once at the top, I took out my trusty digital camera that recorded 640x480 images onto 2.5" floppy disks and snapped a whole bunch of photos as I pretended to be a human tripod.

Weeks later, at home, I hand stitched the photos in 3, or whatever version was current at the time. This was the beginning of a long journey.

It just doesn't feel that the, often negative, thoughts originate in my consciousness. It feels like it's only when I identify and cling to the thoughts that they become part of me. In my personal experience, of course.

Let me tell you what my life has been like for nearly a decade: I have been constantly tired.

Every waking moment, I have wanted to lie down. Just standing up and moving around has been torture. The only reason I did anything is because I have job and parenting responsibilities, and I had to will myself to do all those things.

At first, I thought this was because of laziness or depression, but I’ve never been a lazy person and I’m generally a positive person.

Then last year, my doctor told me that I have a host of medical issues, including high blood pressure. So I became fanatical about diet and exercise. I’m now in the gym every day, and I’m running every day and lifting huge weights.

This helped. Largely, it gave me just a little bit of mojo to fight through each day. My back stopped aching, it took less effort to do things, and did many astonishing things that I previously thought were beyond my capabilities.

Still, when I wasn’t in the gym or doing essential things for survival, I was constantly lying down, trying for rest that just never came.

Finally, last month, I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea. I rarely go into REM or deep sleep. Even though I sleep, my body hasn’t been regenerating itself – and I’ve been struggling with breathing.

I’m now treating that sleep apnea. Last night, I tried out a CPAP machine. For the first time in a long, long time, I actually feel well rested.

Running an open Fediverse server is a high risk, low reward endeavour.

If you run it as a public service, it’s financially draining and opens you up to legal liability.

And even if you properly deal with money and liabilities, someone out there will hate you anyway because that’s just how it goes.

Last year, I must have spent $2,000 keeping various projects afloat. In the end, these projects just pissed people off. So lesson learned.

The only servers I’m now supporting are my family’s servers. They are not open to the public.

I am glad Mastodon isn't that searchable and all my posts disappear after a week I just thought her dress was weird but better than Camille Thomas who wore what looked like a 1971 tablecloth when I saw her do a cello concerto.
