If the #gardening#gods are kind to me, the lettuce seedlings will easily transplant to the raised #garden bed when they're big enough to go outside.
I'm a ham-handed #gardener, & when I transplant delicate seedlings I often dislodge so much soil that the tiny roots become exposed. So these open-ended cardboard rolls should hold long enough to simply place in the soil, as is, & let #nature do its thing!
cut toilet paper & paper towel rolls into starter cup size, put soil & a lettuce seed in each "cup", will water them from underneath so they can soak up what they need, and transplant them (if they grow) into the raised garden bed when/if they're ready.
If this doesn't work, it's all good, b/c I have a zillion more seeds & plenty of fall & winter weather ahead of us!
There were about thirty California Valley quail in our raspberry patch this morning.
Somebody has to stay alert just in case Summer comes out to play.
The quail on the ground were almost invisible to the camera.
The lookouts were on display, though.
This was probably at least two families with lots of young birds. #BackyardBirds
When Tom & I were camping at Pinnacles Nat'l Park last year, we loved seeing parades of quail around every corner, and delighted to hear the little noises they make! Never expected them to chatter the way they do!
Yesterday I planted carrot #seeds & today I refreshed, fertilized & added potting soil to a few pots & planted two different kinds of #onion seeds plus, since I have four different kinds of #carrot seeds, I planted a few of the kaleidoscope carrot seeds in a small pot "just for shits & grins."
but it's like when I was one of about 4 people who went from American Martyrs grade skool to Aviation High School & it was hard for about 4 days until I made new friends
