We got caught up on Doctor Who last night. The new doctor is sooooo godsdamn queer, i love it.

I mean just look at these promo shots.

Homesoil is wearing tight muscle shirts zipped down to show a couple necklaces and a bit of chest hair, multiple rings and a thin mustache.

We also got an extended shot of him dancing in a club wearing a tight tank top and a kilt and I don't think Ive ever watched a scene so intently in my life.

You guys, it went SPINNY! So fucking spinny ^.^

Does anybody else know why so many cis people are blissfully unaware of the anti-trans laws that are passing in the US and the increase in anti-trans hate?

Among people I meet day to day, friends and former coworkers, and my family, I keep finding cis people surprised when I tell them that there are now anti-trans laws on the books in like half the states and when I explain the proposed or current law in their state. Heck, a lot of folks also unaware of the high rate of anti-trans violence even in Southern California. Some of them look really disturbed when I explain how trans people using the bathroom in Florida is effectively a crime now.

These are people who are ostensibly allies and are just completely unaware. I understand some people don't follow the news much. I get that people aren't as likely to follow news that doesn't directly affect them. But how is there this big a blind spot in most of the population when it's a main talking point of one of only two major parties?

I made some peppermint bark for thanksgiving dinner tonight ^.^

Its a trend that my wife loves and hates - that I will learn how to make a favorite food of theirs and then end up making it better than the store/restaurant versions they used to like.

Mostly I think its down to me using quality ingredients and going for tasty instead of shelf-stable or 'easily replicated in a commercial kitchen 200 times a night.'

My gf has now said my peppermint bark is better than all but the fanciest store-bought kind and my gay little heart swells with culinary pride.

Sometimes this is a form of virtue signalling. Where - especially in such volitile times - people are saying 'look, im still part of this in-group! U can tell by how much i dislike that out-group!'

I never know what to say for #transgenderdayofremembrance

I hate that we have to have a specific day because so many people hate us so much for such bullshit reasons.

I hate how utterly apathetic cis people are to the physical, systemic, and political violence we face every day.

I hate how much everyone i know is hurting today.

I hate being afraid.

I hate having to do the terrible algebra of survival every time I go to open my mouth in public.

But I love being me.

I love who I am and who I'm still becoming.

And I hate that so many of my siblings will never get the chance to feel that love and joy.

My experience with mastodon servers has been about on par with my overall #trans experience.

I started off with a full head of steam in a general queer server and got a lot of traction and made some noise. I then stood up for myself a little too loudly and was literally silenced/erased by a white cis dude cuz my protesting a shitty video game "would look bad" for him.

I saught refuge in a few specifically trans spaces and was kinda weirded out by a few until i found a nice corner of the internet to make dick jokes and farm memes.

I dont care about educating the cis. I dont care about traction and internet points. I care about being a resource to other #transgender people and being proof that you can, in fact, just be a girl if you want to.

Star Trek is a major special interest of mine.

But possibly greater than that in my heart is Terry Pratchett's #Discworld novels.

Unfortunately he wasn't marketed well in the 'states so almost no one shares my deep burning love for his work and if they do want to check them out they're confronted by 40+ novels.

Same as the 800+ episodes of #StarTrek, 43 novels is a bit of a steep order. Unless of course you're an adolescent neurodivergent who uses their hyperlexia to escape an ongoing traumatic experience.

One of my favorite things about being #transgender is that I get to be an elder #queer for younger trans and queer kids. I get to be who I needed when i was younger.

My least favorite thing is when they have to come to terms with their parents being their enemies rather than just well-meaning people who might come around eventually.

All these kids want is to be themselves and to be loved by their parents and so fucking many of them have to find out that they cant be both.

That fox news hasnt been burned to the salted earth is proof that there is no justice in our world.

I just got off the phone with my insurance company's trans care specialist.

I had been told I couldn't get insurance to cover my hair removal costs cuz of a technicality in the wording of the laws but she thinks she has a workaround so its off to schedule more hair removal!

There's bastards out there but there's also some cool ass people who will actually help.
