@robpike The excuse (reprehensible) for not acting on climate change used to be that it was only going to be a problem for our great grandchildren’s great grandchildren, so not our problem. Now it’s that we won’t be alive to benefit from the sacrifices needed.

@rbreich It was once suggested that I take my firstborn to a “growth” clinic because they were so tall. Biologically female, as an adult they’re the same height as me, nearly 6 feet. Being tall certainly has its advantages, but being a particularly tall woman can also be problematic, because of societal expectations. I didn’t take them to the clinic, as you might’ve guessed, because their height was just right for them.

You don’t need to use disinfectants every day. In fact, perhaps you shouldn’t due to their potential hazards.

Disinfection can help kill any remaining microbes where people have been actively ill, such as vomit on a surface or during certain disease outbreaks. But soap and water really do the trick for most sanitation needs on a regular basis.

@pathfinder @actuallyautistic It’s that intense fear of rejection. When I was working, I would mask, work hard & do my best to “fit in”. I’m now grappling with the possibility that I might not get another “real” job, as opposed to some casual marking etc, but the thought of trying to join a group of some sort & make some new friends is… something I can’t bear to think about. Work provided me with social contact.

My father has an old 'golf protegee' friend. He's about 25 years younger, but Dad taught him how to play and play well. This guy has been amazing. He's been in a similar situation and has helped me through some issues I'm having. He calls every day to see how I'm doing. Today, he sat with Dad for four hours. That's kindness that is rare nowadays. It really is.
