This is just one side: at least 7 police departments with at least two layers at every point of egress, with several layers in back for rear control and rotation. @ryanrandall@jonny Yeah, I did undergrad at SUNY Purchase which was built in the 70s. The entire campus architecture was built around not allowing the students to seize buildings and creating choke points for students and access points for large groups of riot cops
I’m 56 years old. Which means I’m about to endure my fourth cycle of twenty-something year old dudes discovering the weight room and Ayn Rand shit like they’ve just unlocked Enlightenment itself and by god I’m fucking so tired of it. And now they have podcasts.
I just heard “let me tell you about this criticism of woke culture that I learned in the weight room - there’s this thing called radical responsibility where you own everything that happens to you…” and threw my phone across the room.
While I love the blues->british blues->blues rock tradition, by god I wish new artists in the genre would be more experimental & lyrically topical instead of mired in nostalgia.

@gogmagog@TheMetalDog Case in point here’s a Metal Forces fanzine from 1985 with a blurb about Poison pre-major label signing. The term “hair metal” is nowhere to be found anywhere, but “glitter metal” “glam” and “commercial/AOR” are the terms used everywhere in the issue to distinguish that stuff from straight up heavy metal and thrash.
