(Today's anti-favorite: if the phone loses reception for even a moment — common on trains! — it disconnects tethering and never reconnects. You're just offline until you notice. Then you need to reconnect from the Mac's Wi-Fi menu again, after waiting for the option to become available, a process that's almost as slow as dialing up your ISP with a modem in the 1900s.)
@dec_hl Nice! I guess it’s time for me to start hosting a site on server running DOS (joining https://win311.aaron.cc and https://reactos.aaron.cc). Very cool that it is TLS-capable (which my Windows 3.11 isn’t at the moment).
@dec_hl Sorry, I meant for the Windows 3.11 web server. For httpDOS, are you using an older version of mbedTLS, or why did you write it needed to be updated to keep the VM safe? (Which I guess would probably the least of my problems anyway when connecting a DOS machine to the internet 😅)
@marcoarment There is Anystream. Didn’t try it, but it’s from the company who did CloneCD, AnyDVD, etc. in the past, so it’s legit. I hear you’re asking for a friend here… Is your friend’s video on one of the supported streaming platforms?
When I was around 8, I wrote a little manual on how to start the computer and open up CorelDraw. If I remember correctly, it was meant for my younger brother. Looks like I confused left and right though—it clearly must have been a double-click using the LEFT mouse button. #retrocomputing#windows31#msdos
Looking for Netscape 7.0 PR1 in German for Windows. Already checked the usual suspects archive.org and evolt.org but had no luck. Any ideas? #Retrocomputing
Pro tip: If you’re installing Windows XP for fun these days, do yourself a favor and use a volume licensing ISO. These don’t require activation. #windowsxp#retrocomputing
@pmoeser@jamiemccarthy@waynedixon@9to5Mac That’s interesting to hear. Had the same issue with my Series 4. Battery was dead every evening after upgrading to 10.0 (compared to around 30% before the upgrade). Upgraded to 10.1 this morning and will see if it improves the situation.
