My days are spent as a consultant in enterprise IT organizations, mainly focusing on teamwork and the people side of delivery. In particular with coaching, processes and enabling teams to work better together across departments and vendors.

My passions are in the areas of #photography, #graphicdesign, #typography and #music. And, of course, family ❤️

On the topic of and , there is a new statement out today. Registered users probably got the email as well.

For now, I suggest we extend the Affinity team our continued support and love, while holding them to their pledge. They have done right by the graphics community this far, and deserve the benefit of doubt. We'll be watching them closely.

I would have been more at ease if it was Affinity buying Canva though 🙂

Question about the Print-dialog:

Needed to print a few receipts and the options in the Print dialog got me wondering...

Print ALL pages or CURRENT page makes perfect sense. Also CUSTOM range, which I usually need.

However - when would anyone need to print only the ODD or EVEN pages in a document?

I'm genuinely puzzled - anyone know what use case these options are covering? Thanks!

Question for anyone who recognises themselves in this picture: what would be your preferred way of communicating those valuable thoughts in a meeting/work setting?

As a team lead, I see this often. I know we have brilliant minds on the team, but many of them are staying quiet. There are multiple good reasons why, so I'm looking for practical advice and affordances that can provide less resistance to active participation.

Status check: how many here are using the on a regular basis for either work* or leisure? This seemed to be last years Big Thing, but there has been way less buzz lately.

I was always kinda skeptical to the concept of strapping a lunchbox to my face, but am open to be surprised.

*) Integrated as a normal part of your workday, e.g. replacing Zoom/Teams style meetings. Excluding proof-of-concept / technology evaluations.

I am SO tired of all the stupid white humanoid robots used as illustrations for "AI" - who came up with this nonsense?

An AI lives in a rack in a datacenter. It is 100% software. It does NOT need to use human interfaces like a screen, a QWERTY keyboard, mouse or a g*dmnd headset!

Robotics is NOT the same as AI.

Day 11 - A Song from your Favorite Album

Not sure I'd trust anyone who has ONE favorite album, but I think this qualifies as my favorite post-punk, new-wave, live album from 1984 anyway. This track is the final in the set, and while it starts out mellow, just strap in and ride the dragon from around the 0:53 mark. Loud is good, this gets physical!

I wish there was more going into those annoying GDPR Cookie notice banners that pop up on basically every European site.

Some are getting better, like the “Decline all" option right up front besides the "Accept all” option.

However, what about giving me the option to “Decline all, except the ONE cookie that allows us to remember that you have already declined all cookies from us” option?

Trying to get my WordPress blog to show up on Mastodon, and I am really not getting very far. All plug-ins are installed, I can find my user and am now "Subscribed" but none of the posts seems to load in the Mastodon web-ui or in my Ivory client. I do get my "Profile bio" and a count of the blog posts though.

Using the "Friends" plug-in, I was able to pull posts into my WordPress UI, but nothing is going the other way.

Any tips for how to overcome this? Thx!

I find culture discussions really interesting. So many behaviours have been ingrained in us since childhood and they vary significantly based on where we grew up in the world.

Culture, in many aspects, is what people EXPECT, what they are USED TO and therefore what they feel COMFORTABLE with. Comparing cultures is really illuminating, understanding a few basic differences that can trip us up even if people from each background have the best of intentions.

Timeline blowing up today with the news of puchasing . Posts are pouring in, written in SO many languages. ALL of them worrying about yet another good software suite falling victim to and a license model moving from perpetual to monthly subscription.

Users universally loathe subs and we have all seen this story play out before. Nobody trusting the "no changes planned at this time" message.

A sad state of affairs when we all now EXPECT to be worse off shortly.
