Hi all, I am Tormod ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ด๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ช (he / him)

My days are spent as a consultant in enterprise IT organizations, mainly focusing on teamwork and the people side of delivery. In particular with coaching, processes and enabling teams to work better together across departments and vendors.

My passions are in the areas of #photography, #graphicdesign, #typography and #music. And, of course, family โค๏ธ

I have a playlist on Soundcloud of my own original rock music and Iโ€™d love for you to check it out, preferably on some good speakers, up loud. Iโ€™m really proud of this, and would love to hear what you think.

If you have โ€œI like musicโ€ in your profile, you must listen. Itโ€™s the law!! ๐Ÿซถ

Boosts very much appreciated! ๐Ÿค—

Lazy use of AI leads to Amazon products called โ€œI cannot fulfill that requestโ€

The telltale error messages are a sign of AI-generated pablum all over the Internet.

Many of us are about to cozy up by the fire and exchange gifts to commemorate the day a tired young couple was desperately searching for shelter and a place to rest with their donkey.

Today, an entire population in the immediate vincinity of this "holy place" are without shelter, electricity, water, food and medical support of any kind. So many of them are just young kids living in constant terror.

A few world leaders has chosen to support the madness.

Inexcusable!

I am SO tired of all the stupid white humanoid robots used as illustrations for "AI" - who came up with this nonsense?

An AI lives in a rack in a datacenter. It is 100% software. It does NOT need to use human interfaces like a screen, a QWERTY keyboard, mouse or a g*dmnd headset!

Robotics is NOT the same as AI.

White, humanoid robot in front of a computer screen wearing a headset.

Edit: final version now completed. Added detail to his hand and ear, plus a few other highlight / shadow tweaks and background.

Work in progress, vector portrait of David Bowie. Still some details to fix, but kinda close to done I think...

Based on a photo by Greg Gorman from 1984.

Trying to get my WordPress blog to show up on Mastodon, and I am really not getting very far. All plug-ins are installed, I can find my user and am now "Subscribed" but none of the posts seems to load in the Mastodon web-ui or in my Ivory client. I do get my "Profile bio" and a count of the blog posts though.

Using the "Friends" plug-in, I was able to pull posts into my WordPress UI, but nothing is going the other way.

Any tips for how to overcome this? Thx!

No such thing - way too many great ones. However, on this topic: Strange Fruit by Billie Hoiday, Fast Car by Tracy Chapman, SuperLife by Chaka Khan, Sign 'o the Times and Mr. Man by Prince, Molly Johnsons version of Inner City Blues, The Message by Grandmaster Flash, Black Man by Stevie Wonder, A Funky Situation by Wilson Picket, Move on Up by Curtis Mayfield, a constant in Meshell's work...

Would have loved to spend an evening with you and your pops listening to his records.

For us who listen to the lyrics in music by black artists, it IS year round. The stories has been told as long as there has been "black music", and I realize the reality is way worse than the stories can convey.

A lot of it is on every streaming service.

Stay awesome Jaden!

Witnessing another occurrrence of the anti-pattern this morning inspired me to write some thoughts about this social behavior that is so common on our that is based on mechanics.

On the forum I created a category for (or ) patterns, and the "Reply Guy" is the first entry in what might be turned into a pattern library collection.

Also worth remembering is that we are a global community. Nuances of conversational style might not be obvious to a non-native speaker.

Guessing style differs quite a bit between, say, US English, UK English and AUS English as an example.

A lot can be gained by assuming good intent. Most people are pretty nice, but I sadly realise there are plenty of drive-by attacks as wellโ€ฆ

Loving this album by @Skeewiff So much fun! A fresh take on goofy tracks from (mostly) the 1960's, re-imagined with a contemporary sound and a deadpan delivery.

A wonderfully deconstructed "Soul Bossanova", a "Spanish Flea" that (almost) never ends, probably the best (to date) version of "MahNa MahNa", all rounded out by UK parlamentary political anthem #1 "Yakety Sax".

This album shows a true love for the originals, played in the most skilled and respectful way.

Classic track, love it!

One thing I find really charming is that they all introduce themselves with their real names and star signs in "Song For a Future Generation". The track was recorded when her brother was still alive and a member of the band.

Timeline blowing up today with the news of puchasing . Posts are pouring in, written in SO many languages. ALL of them worrying about yet another good software suite falling victim to and a license model moving from perpetual to monthly subscription.

Users universally loathe subs and we have all seen this story play out before. Nobody trusting the "no changes planned at this time" message.

A sad state of affairs when we all now EXPECT to be worse off shortly.

I have been hearing about this type of service being in the works for years. The โ€œproductivity punditsโ€ have been discussing it quite a bit on their podcasts, so yeah... someone was thinking to basically record everything into a massive โ€œbrowser historyโ€ equivalent for your life.

They also mentioned wearing body cams to take photos with a similar frequency, so maybe that Humane AI pin will get a second life as your personal surveillance cam :)

@ajsadauskas Listened to a random podcast on Pushkin, suspect that one problem with drone delivery in the US is the hobbled air-traffic rules that allow civilian aircraft to fly without transponders. Just sayinโ€™
https://www.pushkin.fm/podcasts/whats-your-problem/launching-drone-delivery

airwhale,
@airwhale@mastodon.social avatar

@kmmfoo @ajsadauskas

Drone delivery doesnโ€™t scale.

At its current range and load capacity, you would need (low guesstimated) at least 25 drones for every one delivery truck. We know AI canโ€™t be trusted, so every 2-3 drones would need a human pilot. Batteries would need to be changed and charged at a depot. Neighbours complaining about the noise.

Sure, for a one-off delivery to a nearby island, drones rock. Itโ€™s a very limited use case though. One human in one truck is way more effective.

Just thinking about how wrong the phrase is, "You have to earn respect".

No, you have to earn disrespect. As a human being, I'm naturally going to respect you if I don't know you. It's when you earn my disrespect, that I'll stop showing respect.

I give people respect freely, until they prove to me that they don't deserve it.

Agree. People should be assumed to be awesome until they prove themselves to be otherwise.
