Folks who might be looking to move from Windows to Linux: another option, if itโs financially feasible for you and you donโt want to mess with installing Linux, is to sell your Windows machine and buy a Linux one.
@alx Writing this on my 2014 dual boot Lenovo AIO with Linux Mint (Internet) and Win7 (no Internet).
It boots in 15 secs and I'm very happy with the set-up, more details:
Informed in 2021 my AIO would not run Win11 and needed a $1,800 CAD replacement -- a lower spec. machine than an iMac at the same price!
Instead I paid a tech. $600 to replace the HHD with a partitioned SSD. I still use my owned software programs on Win7 (no yearly lease payments) and use Linux for Internet and email.
@furniturelink My spare laptop is HP 2015 and currently run on Windows 10, not eligible for Win 11 updates. It might also be good to replace it with an SSD and have a dual boot, so thank you for sharing your experience.
@aral it is sad to see this kind of thuggish behaviour from the US against international organisations, but then again they were one of the few that never wanted the powerful to be accountable for their crimes during the many years that led to the current ICC.
