@WanderingInDigitalWorlds Honestly, at 30 bucks I'd have called it a "No-brainer" and SPT-AKI would have been dead in the water.
At this price? And at 250 bucks if you buy new? Hell, no!
@ThePlant One of the big questions - for me - is more technical really: Will the mastodon servers be able to handle the friehose of threads incoming traffic?
Finally figured out how to play games I start from @lutris with my Steam Controller:
Add Lutris as a Non-Steam game.
I tried adding games to Steam via Lutris's context menu option "Create Steam shortcut" but that would only put the Steam Controller into Desktop mode for the game.
So anyone looking to use Steam Controller with games started from Lutris:
@lutris I tried that, and it works mostly, but I wasn't able to get the right Trackpad work as right joystick or use the joystick as left joystick either.
Screenshot shows options for the joystick, see the lack of "joystick" option.
Also, after running the /usr/game/lutris rungame:xx command, Steam would revert any controller configuration back to Desktop mode, with the issue above then.
To all players who've faced sound issues after playing the game for a while: I've identified the problem (a nuanced audio resampling bug in my audio mixing library), the fixed version is already on Steam!
As always, go try my first released game, I worked hard for almost a year to make it :)
@lisyarus Found this game through this toot and just bought it myself! Thank you for this, really chill and great for a bit of relaxation between two meetings :D
I just saw that - no idea where from - I own Star Wars Fallen Order on Origin/EA/WhateverItIsCalledNow. And now I'm torn between that and Cyberpunk 2077, which I've also never played beyond the first tutorial mission...
I've got a better idea Steam! Why don't you add real 2FA instead of your silly custom system. I don't work with my fucking phone next to me. Use some of those billions (yes, with a B) you make every year and hire some programmers.
@grumpygamer Seriously, TOTP and WebAuthn exist. The only reason to implement this in a way that requires phone-apps is to send advertising popups to said phone.
Ah, sigh, I fell down the rabbit hole of static site generators to publish my #GameDev posts... I have used WordPress up until now because it's simple to set up and easy to use, but in my quest for simplicity I hate that I have to use a database and dynamically generated pages for content that is basically static and can be generated offline on my computer.
In fact, I believe that dynamic CMS is only really needed for very complex and rapidly changing websites.
@oldschoolpixels If you have anything to share about that quest, I'd be interested in how things compare to jekyll. Been using it for a few years now, but my blog is very low-frequency so once I settled in I stopped loking.
Sometimes I wonder if I reply too much to the same people. I recently found myself several times deleting a response to some people when I realized I've been responding to them very frequently, even though on different topics.
People really need to stop saying "free" on gamepass. It's not bloody free. You are paying a monthly fee for it. It's also not actually that cheap unless you download multiple games a week.
@BlindiRL I can see Gamepass being attractive for variety streamers, who play many different games at a time.
I tend to sink hundreds of hours into individual games, sometimes over the course of one or two years. At that point, Gamepass wouldn't even allow me to play that game anymore.
It's just not for me, I guess.
@BlindiRL@ThomasAbballe No, no it's certainly not. You can rent the access to it for a fee, for however long Microsoft says you are allowed to, but free it ain't.
I'll keep saying it, because it keeps coming up. If you're working in the FreeDesktop, Linux, or Flatpak spaces, you need to understand this, even if you don't personally care about gaming or Steam Deck.
@cassidy Frankly, I've been a Linux user for over two decades now, and the Steam Deck is literally my FIRST contact with Flatpaks.
It was annoying not being able to find stuff in my $HOME, but after a while I figured out where both Lutris and Dolphin flatpaks drop their files.
I'm not a terribly big fan of the "package everything the distro provides again" as it requires updating each flatpak individually if a dep updates, but I see the need for an easy deployment method.
How to make dualsense controller act like xbox controller
the tldr is that i have this one game that only likes xbox controllers, and steam input doesnt work to fix it
