Back in 2006 I took this photo of a cargo bike in Mexico. I wish I hadn't cut off the rear of the fender. This is well-loved. I think it's single speed with coaster brakes.

Threads to Mastodon observation. On Threads, you can post 10 images per post, but due to only being able to post four here only the first four are shown on Mastodon.

I just boosted a Threads post with photos from my Threads account if you want to see it.

I didn't alt tag them on Threads, so I'm sure I'm going to get yelled at here, but it is what it is. While I'm told I do a good job with my alt tags, I find them mentally draining to write.

Anyway, the Threads connection is working.

It's now possible to follow Threads accounts from Mastodon and see what they are posting. You can reply, but the replies aren't being imported into Threads, yet. So, I followed myself to see if it works. It does with a delay between when I post on Threads and when I see it here.

@colomon there's a setting buried in Threads that has to be turned on. I can't remember where I found it.

@jamesjm as of right now that's how it is. Threads will start importing replies from Mastodon into Threads soon.

@colomon As of right now, you can follow Threads accounts from Mastodon without having to have a Threads account. But you can't follow Mastodon accounts from Threads, yet. But if you have a Threads account, you can turn on the beta Mastodon sharing option and then Mastodon users can find you (assuming that the admin didn't block Threads on your server).

Minnesota is supposed to get a big dump of snow, and I'm crossing my fingers that it hits the North Shore and the Grand Marais area. My kid has never snowboarded on good, fresh powder. It would be great if his second year of snowboarding would end with feet of fresh pow. Plus, they'd groom the Pincushion XC ski trails and I'd get a few km in. I'm only short ~950km of my goal. :)

Data is never "raw" or "unprocessed" or "neutral" or "objective". The decision to record a thing (and not others), the structures and data formats it's pressed into, the granularity and frequency of collection are already a curation and interpretation of the world.

A data set with unclear collectors, without a declaration of the original purpose and goals is basically unusable responsibly.
