Is there a way to check how many of your Mastodon followers are still active on the platform?

@Okanogen I got 1000s all at once back when Twitter was bought, and I like to look at each account before following back. I didn't have the desire to check 1000s of accounts in a couple of days. When I'm able to check someone's account and they post things I'm interested in, I'll follow. The way I mainly use Mastodon though is by following hashtags, because then I see what I'm interested in

During October 2023, local photographer Bryan Hansel rode his gravel bike across the proposed Minnesota Border to Border Touring Route, which is an Off-Road Vehicle trail that Cook County rejected. Over ten days he rode 625 miles from Pembina, ND to Silver Bay where he finished the trip on Lake Superior. He'll share photos, stories and impressions about the ride. @Frits the lens design creates the starburst and not every design is going to create a similar starburst. Some lenses don't create starbursts at the aperture I used which will affect shutter speed. This lens also renders color in an interesting way that none of my other lenses do.

The camera has a lot of leeway in shadow detail recovery. Not all cameras have that.

Could you get a similar photo? Sure as long as you had a lens in the 75mm range and as long as you had good timing.

This building is a wild proposal for downtown Grand Marais, Minnesota. It doesn't fit the current character of the city. It'll be interesting to see if the city allows this conditional use permit especially since they turned down an event center at the North House Folk School.

I just learned that people are denying the reality of Y2K. My aunt was involved in the programming effort.

I was working corporate retail at the time. One of our buyers loaded up on Y2K memorabilia and Y2K-proof electronics (think crank radios) spending 10s of $10000s on it. It was a flop! Afterwards, our stores had to mark everything down to pennies on the dollar. I picked up eight of these mugs for a dollar. I think we ended up throwing a bunch of other stuff away.

I was photographing the front of a recently restored historic hotel when from behind me this guy said, you can take my photo if you want.

I said, I don't usually photograph random people, but since you asked I'll give it a go.

I took a few shots and asked, would you like to see?

He said, I don't care what you do with it.

I showed him the photo.

I said, I think you look nice. Thank you for letting me photograph you.

He looked at it & said, It looks nice.

My New Year's Resolution is to get a new bike seat that fits me better than what I have. In the distant past I had a fi'zi:k Nisene that I loved. They don't make it anymore, but I'm considering their other saddles. I'm thinking of getting a fi'zi:k Terra Argo for my gravel bike. Anyone have one of those? What are the pluses and minuses? Should I look at a different version of the Argo?

I'm looking over my 2023 images trying to find my favorite images — one from each month. This is from May on the Blue Ridge Parkway. I have a lot of photos from May that I haven't edited, yet, so this might not be my favorite in the end. But it is right now.

@dancinyogi I'm not sure I'd say these happened to me, but I accomplished a bunch of cycling goals. I trained for and did an informal cycling challenge that I've wanted to do for nearly 20 years. I also biked across Minnesota. And I used an AI bike fitting program to make sure that I finally got a road/gravel bike that fit me after 25 years of riding road bikes that stores aways sized too large. It's the best fitting bike I've ever had. I love it.
