Happy Lodger's Birthday! Birthday supper from KW African (Beyaynetu and Tibsi) and cupcakes from Tiny Cakes :)

KW African has new owners as of a couple of weeks ago! The menu is in flux and a new one is hoped to be in place in a few weeks (maybe May?), but what we had was just as tasty as when Tilahun Grebremanian and his family owned and ran it.

@beeoproblem The menu has shrunk for now - no doro wot right now, but they had my favourite ful. He said they were working on new dishes and are hoping the new menu will be in place in a few weeks (maybe Mai??).

I did notice they had at least one lamb dish (I don't recall which one, though).

Currently semi-glued to the Royal mess, because you know, priorities. Has Charles kicked the bucket? Maybe. Has Kate left William? Also maybe, who knows.
But the real comedy is watching the Royals completely lose public trust in anything they say or put out.

@jace What’s happening there is like what’s happening in general to people who’ve always held court (no pun intended) or are so entitled they believe they shod. and now find themselves ignored, questioned, or mocked; old school corporate management; people who think they are/behave like tastemakers; mediocre underqualifed reply guys who weigh in on topics they are particularly ignorant in.

A surprisingly social morning at the dealership that takes care of George, my car. My service rep and I talked about books, Ted Lasso, and how my (favourite) mechanic is doing. Then, one of the shop managers came out and we chatted about family and food. Then, another service rep saw me in the lounge and we got caught up, too. One of the benefits of living here.

Oh, and I have my Spring tire swap booked for May.

An appeal has been made to find the owners of an unchipped three-legged tortoiseshell cat found at the service station Aire des Haras au Sap André 61, on the A28 in Normandy, France.
It's believed they're British & travelling in a camper van in July '23.

Will be out tomorrow, so doing all of the weekend’s cooking and baking today. Souvlaki-marinated pork chops, oven-roasted ratatouille, oatmeal muffins. Attempting naan again (so far so good). Thinking of broccoli-cheddar soup, but I need to do some work. Maybe when I get back tomorrow, I’ll do the soup. And the laundry. And mopping.

@thepoliticalcat Did I mention the only (vet food) I could get was DIET (the manufacturer of their usual has mysteriously been unable to fulfill orders anywhere -- and I'm sure they'll hike the prices by another 12% when they do start up again.). Rufus (b&w one) is NOT happy and always hungry now, poor thing.

@thepoliticalcat Nigel doesn't really care for dry, but he eats it because his brother hoovers it down. That's because I got Nigel at 3mo and his brother (littermates) at 6mo and he'd gotten accustomed to dry. I will say, that R now goes back up to the wet food and finishes it off...which is better for him, anyway.

This may be an unpopular opinion.

But I think today, I've resigned myself to a future win for the Conservatives federally.

The recent decisions by Trudeau and the Liberals have been completely self-destructive, and the NDP are way too disorganized to put up any fight.

A premier Danielle Smith with Prime Minister Poiliviere? The definition of absolute hell, but one that looks completely possible with the inept and disastrous "progressive" parties we have right now.

@jace I'm feeling it, too. But I'm kinda hoping Ontario will stem a blue flood, given what's been happening here. In the last provincial election, my riding went NDP and we're having a by-election in three weeks.

Will see who wins and how the margins go. But I will say, I've only seen NDP and Green signs, none for the Liberals or Cons at this point.
