So the problem I found with my #wordpress and #ActivityPub connection turned out to be because they are effectively on the same network. Things on local addresses won't federate with each other. I don't know if there's any way to make an exception for this (allowed addresses is already setup in the .env.production file)
I figured this out because I have a test mastodon server that won't federate with production and exibits the same behavior. Hopefully this saves someone from frustration

Hey #ActivityPub gurus. I have a unique setup where my mastodon server and wordpress blog are partially on the same network (different external ip addresses for each but a tunnel on the 192 address space linking them). They can't seem to talk to each other.
is there any configuration in activitypub that would block local ip addresses? (most likely on the wordpress end)

Just bumped my #Mastodon instance up to 4.X from 3.X. Another rocky upgrade experience. I was expecting it this time. No fun.

Since elasticsearch and opensearch are so heavy, I'm not going to be running either at this point, which is sad since on such a small instance a nice lightweight search alternative would be useful. Oh well.

Still no way to quote posts, eh? Sad again.

Not clear to me how the full text functionality would work in any case. Does it only function on the local instance? Can people do full text searches across the Mastodon network for opted in profiles? If so, how? If not, yeah, another sad.

Today, I learned that the binary number system was partially inspired by the I Ching. It's based on the Taoistic concept of the Yin and Yang. The I Ching itself has a set of 64 hexagrams (or "sixty-four" gua).

Shao Yong, a Song dynasty scholar, re-arranged the hexagrams into something that resembles modern binary. He represented solid lines as 0s and broken lines as 1s.

Our current Westernized notion of binary numbers evolved from Gottfried Leibniz reading, and being inspired by, the I Ching.

Hi, Fedifolks, I've got several self hosted #WordPress blogs on a network setup. It's protected by wordfence as an application firewall. I've added the #ActivityPub plug in. When I follow a user it just goes into a pending state and doesn't change. There's no option on the wordpress side to accept users.
Anyone know how to fix this or have experience fixing it?
