Well… it would have been a good week for my Bears, if NFL games were only 3 quarters. 🙄

The Bears’ D was just awful in the 4th quarter: missed tackles, blown assignments, etc. Which leaves us (again) with laying the blame on the coaches, or the players? Of course the fundamental blame rests with the owners, as demonstrated time and again by the Bears’ abysmal record over the past several seasons.

How to follow people on Mastodon (at least, how I do it).

1. Someone likes/replies to my toot, makes a provocative reply to someone I follow, or even follows me.

2. I click on the link to their profile, and examine:
   a. Their previous toots, to determine the general direction of their politics, creativity, etc. (are we thought-compatible?).
   b. How often they toot/boost content, vs. how important to me that content actually is.

End of an era: finally closed down the web hosting account I've had with BlueHost since 1999. Wow - very near 25 years!

It was on a shared server (severely limits possible service upgrades), and I wasn't using it anymore. Their help system is now (of course) AI, and pretty useless.

Now I'm looking for a more flexible hosting option, where I can deploy Docker containers, or manage my own virtual servers. Something like DigitalOcean.

In 2nd grade, I found a book about USS Constitution in our elementary school library. It was a "5th grade" book, so the librarian had to ask my Mom's permission for me to check it out. 🙄

I read that several times, and it triggered a lifelong love of and fascination with history. Still running strong today!

Encourage your kids' curiosity: you never know where it will lead. 😀

Finally found an Apple Notes client for Linux: icloud-notes.

I gather it's been around a couple years, but I just discovered it.

Although I've been using Linux as my desktop OS for over 25 years, my daily/mobile life is all on Apple products. This just fills a modestly annoying gap.

Had to install Canonical's snap daemon first, which I'd been avoiding. The convenience here seemed a worthy trade-off.

Many people don't understand why I chose to play the Horn... and particularly why I chose to try to make a career of it. Well, it started in grade school, at Miller Elementary School. We got to choose instruments in 4th grade. I chose Trumpet or Drums. They went alphabetically, and by the time they got to me (H)... Trumpets and Drums were gone.

The language translation features of Mastodon work well, but I still find toots that don't have a "translate" link/button... especially Asian languages.
