@Craigp this goes the other way as well tbf. If you have to keep your work email open all day in a browser tab, or either that open it in some weird halfway house desktop web app that shuts if you close your browser, you're not winning either way

in i made an emote system where each sprite can have up to 16 emotes and oh my god it's the best thing i've ever done. they're so useful for one-off animations that aren't compatible with any other built-in animation type and i use them for melee attacks too

@tomw @glassbottommeg it is staggering to me that literally the only major website in the entire world now that doesn't have a cookie notice is github, because they decided not to store unneeded third-party cookies, and that this was such a revelation that they blogged about it

just remembered the time when I saw Beowulf in the cinema and it was so shockingly bad that the audience kept laughing at stuff. when it ended people were shouting "I am Beowulf!" in silly voices, until one guy busted out the most movie voice ever and shouted "I AM ANGELINA JOLIE!"

@gsuberland the worst film I ever saw at the cinema was Norah Jones vehicle My Blueberry Nights. We should have left as soon as Jude Law started doing an American accent. By the time my wife suggested that she would rather go to the pub across the street to watch the football, the room resembled an aircraft three seconds after they turn off the seatbelt sign on landing

Fediverse, the independent women's football team I support/volunteer for needs your help.

After a MASSIVE comeback win against a higher level team they're through in the cup.

But that means a long coach journey, and the competition grants no prize money to pay for travel.

I don't really want to wade in on the whole meta/fb thing but it does seem mighty naïve to say "ok we'll just block them once they do something bad" when the extremely well-documented modus operandi is to turn up, extend an olive branch, say the right things, work on the platform, build trust, build a critical mass audience on their stuff, then do bad stuff once they're already an entrenched incumbent and defederating from them isn't practical without destroying the communities you support.
