Yes I agree, I have been interested in the development of Linux tablets, but honestly the best Linux tablet I have for now is my Surface Pro 3 running Garuda Dragonized. With that, I have the full power of a Linux desktop along with tablet trimmings like the touch screen display and stylus pen.
Absorb this graph—but note that the final year is 2018, the year of Trump’s tax cuts. That’s #Trump’s big goal, always has been: to rip off working people and hand huge bags of cash to the ultra-wealthy, like himself and his Mar-a-Lago buddies.
Rutger Bregman:
Stunning graph: the plummeting tax rates of the richest Americans. For the first time in history, billionaires have a lower effective tax rate than working-class Americans.
Back on Xfce temporarily...
It's absolutely one of my 2 favorite DEs, but I can't recommend it unless you're ok with quite a bit of fiddling to get it to look good.
(see my previous post for some context on what it looks like by default)
@Linux_in_a_Bit It's very fast, I have a Dell chromebook that has XUbuntu on it, and it runs great but is definitely a lot more spartan than Garuda Drag0nized with KDE 6 that I use on my Surface Pro 3.
@flexghost
Hmm, never believed the chem trail conspiracy theory. I also never believed the Al Gore types screaming we were all going to die. Climate change is real, but the truth is humanity has precious little control over it. Conservation I am all for, but spreading fear and panic and impoverishing the middle classes of the world I oppose.
#Raskin: They’re spreading disinformation about how it was really antifa and FBI agents which would make it strange to argue that all of these people should be released and trump is going to pardon them. Why would he want to pardon all of these antifa fighters? #Jan6#Trump
@GottaLaff Maybe because most of them were given huge sentences on a novel legal theory of obstruction of government proceedings when really they were only guilty of misdemeanor trespass.
I’m here to write in praise of the Apple Watch “Backtrack” feature. I was able to go on a good hike this past weekend, and used Backtrack to track my route and follow it back. I was safe in either case: I had a trail map as well, but Backtrack is an amazing addition.
I’m probably late to this: I was a hold off on any “wearable” until recently. My main interest is the heart data. I know way too many men that have heart issues right around mid-life. Turns out the other features are useful, too!
All these red states are now boasting about how they are withdrawing from the American Library Association. They aren’t just satisfied with banning books, they want to get rid of the places that keep and lend them, too. The Christian Right is on the march.
Carl Sagan once warned us of the “dumbing down” of America. He warned of a time when our “critical faculties in decline, unable to distinguish between what feels good and what's true, we slide, almost without noticing, back into superstition and darkness...”
That time is upon us. We must do all we can to prevent that darkness from taking hold.
@georgetakei Hmm nope just decoupling from organizations taken over by Marxists during the long march through the institutions. Not for censorship, but not for explicit sexual content for kids either George.
Interesting, I have wanted to see RICO charges brought against the 2020 Antifa and BLM rioters for some time. I wonder if Garland will ever do anything about those criminals?
He gets a New York charge, he gets a Florida charge
He gets a DC charge, he gets a Georgia charge
He enters the pleas that remind him of the good times

@Popehat very creative, I like Chumbawumba but their philosophy would have them branded as terrorists in America these days. We don’t actually have a justice system we have kangaroo courts that protect the rich and powerful, even those who accept bribes.
As a man of the right, I can say it is very refreshing to hear this. Yes, the Constitution and rule of law must be followed in every case. Traditional liberals revered the Bill of Rights, especially the first amendment which is under attack these days. We may not agree on the issues, but demolishing the protections our freedoms have isn’t the answer. On that we do agree.
@QasimRashid perhaps we should focus on bringing down cost so everyone can afford healthcare? Many people have high deductible plans because premiums are too high. Also not spending money on bombs and killing machines to send to other countries would help. Medicare is quickly going insolvent and hard choices will have to be made soon…
On one hand, we have Hunter, a private citizen. On the other, a former president, indicted 3 times, and charged with over 70 felonies, and more indictments and charges to come.
Which one of these guys will leave an indelible stain on our country? Which one tried to overthrow our government? Which one attacked our constitution and our democracy? Hold them both to account, but they’re hardly the same.
The week’s diverging news realities, depending on your cable channel- https://wapo.st/45ekkTh
@rmdes@TonyStark i watched the 1/6 event and watched the President ask his supporters to peacefully protest. Not once did he ask them to stage a violent insurrection. Of course footage of him making such a statement would exist if he did in fact say such a thing. Not only that even if it was only a cellphone video every news outlet in America would be running it and condemning him for it. Notice that even the rogue prosecutor smith did not charge him with fomenting an insurrection.
@rmdes so you are saying if I exercise my first amendment right to free speech and a group of hooligans show up and start beating people or torching buildings I would be held responsible for their crimes? That doesn’t sound like American justice to me. If I directed those individuals, encouraged them to do so that would be one thing but that must occur for me to be charged criminally.
@rmdes@TonyStark then why did he call for the national guard to be stationed at the capitol and Pelosi rejected that idea? Why would he do that if he was actually trying to stage an insurrection?
I admire various qualities in both men. They’re not perfect but they share a populist outlook and concern for the forgotten men and women of America. I have been blessed to have a good education but my dad worked in a factory all his life. A good politician does not ignore the suffering of the least fortunate. RFK shares that concern with his uncle JFK. I love we can have these discussions here in a friendly and civil way too!
I know that all of us have biases and blind spots and I agree with you I’m not really in this for any cult of personality but for the populist movement. The success of that movement is far more important than the success of Trump as an individual or RFK as an individual. The success of our country depends on fidelity to the Constitution and a robust middle class.
I would agree both men are flawed though I certainly agree with some of what Trump did as President— though not everything. Two of my favorite political philosophers are Pat Buchanan and Dr. Michael Savage… these two men of ideas are the ones who really have Trump the policy ideas that he rode to victory in 2016. Both are much more genteel than Mr. Trump. My parents voted for Buchanan in 1992. I would say in more of a libertarian nationalist.
