Hmmmm, so is down to less than 7% (qualified good news), but costs are accelerating at a record pace.

Maybe the BoE should finally drop its wage/prices spiral position & actually look at corporate profits & as the drivers of .... or is that a little too close to home for the in Threadneedle St?

And before they say its a 'lagging factor' you can make the same argument about wages.... but rents come out of household income(s) directly!

👆 Ah, you're forgetting to factor-in public stupidity & thickness.

There was a poll in the Times a few years ago showing that c.80% of the public thought inflation going from say 4% to 3.5% meant prices must be going down 'cos 3.5 is smaller than 4.

How to fool the public: use a '%' symbol/use a %age-based increase/decrease concept, about anything...

👆 The more I read about Starmer's thinking the more I'm prepared that he might just be right. It's more than likely that will either force the "U"K🇬🇧 back into the EU🇪🇺 as 1 thing or as 4 independent things...so don't die on those hills; pick a better battleground.

Yesterday I asked followers to to "like" a post so that could gauge how many are seeing/reading my Mastodon posts.

This was because, although nominally I have 41k followers on here, I thought the figure artificially inflated because of how many came over last November and then went away again.

The result was 1.2k likes (and 83 boosts).

The boosts may have led to likes from non-followers.

So: in a 20-hour period, a post had an engagement rate of about 3%.

A data point, if not an anecdote.

I missed that the HoC Privileges is now going to produce a further report on the attacks & intimidation it was subject to while preparing the report;

this is starting to have the feel of a proper spring clean around the political practices of the Johnson era.

You will have noticed that has been unable to deliver a comprehensive deal with the USA, instead having to settle for 's list or priority areas for trade enhancement.

Its only a 'special relationship' where the interests served are reciprocal - if one side sets the agenda & the other smiles while agreeing, then this may be friendly but the UK remains a client state to its master.... yup, we're still the State's poodle (whatever Rishi says through a false smile)
