Some of you may have noticed a change in artwork with my latest Elektro* release.

In the past, I used -E2 to generate amusing artwork for tracks. It was fun while it lasted, but for ethical reasons I've now decided to stop using tools for generating cover art. From now on it'll be groovy abstract digital art I've generated myself.

I was idly thinking of Thin Lizzy's "The Boys Are Back In Town" last night, and I have questions:

(a) Where did they go in the first place?
(b) What brought them back to town?

I was just going over the manual for the XPO oscillator and came across the following sentence:

"The XPO is a 100% analog musical instrument that is not suitable for laboratory use."

Ummmm....okay?

So I think I'm going to call it SPLAT from now on: "Site Previously Loved As Twitter".

Actually, the most hilarious thing about all this drama is that the following assumptions are being made:

  1. That Meta will actually get its shit together to make actually happen. I have yet to see Meta deliver on anything except for the generation of a lot of hot air.

  2. That even if Project 92 becomes a reality, it will be highly adopted. Meta's target market is the user base that remains happily ensconced in Musk's Twitter or the fledgling . Google Buzz, anyone?

Regarding the recent / kerfuffle, and as someone who's been using open platforms and Free Software since the early 90s, I think this is a non-issue.

was embraced by corporations way back in the early 00s, and yet here it is in 2023 as cool and as robust as ever.

Open platforms are just that, open. People and corporations will use them as they see fit. It's folly to try to control them.
