I don't use Reddit much, whenever I do, it's always with a third-party client, either an app or a web client.

Their own website is unusable. A push to force everyone to use that terrible interface is the same as asking to have that domain blocked for me.

Nothing Reddit provided is worth putting up with extortion!

Today I have decided I am going to rewatch Twilight. I have no shame.

@seldo @kf
Probably a good choice, but having never seen the movies, I have immensely enjoyed this thread. 👍

One of the biggest lies I believed when I was younger was that people naturally and automatically become more conservative as they get older.

This is false — if anything, I’ve gotten more liberal — and I can see now is perpetuated by people who are desperately trying to justify their selfishness and lack of integrity.

@SasquatcherGeneral Nothing has radicalized me more in life than to have children and realize how much of America's economy and city design and healthcare/insurance system is outright hostile to families.

Twitter is becoming the official HQ for fascist media: Today DeSantis & Musk, tomorrow Daily Wire:
Daily Wire is bringing all of its podcasts to Twitter https://www.axios.com/newsletters/axios-media-trends-6590435b-19b5-4d5e-95a0-49ec052bfb92.html

@jeffjarvis My biggest frustration with that coverage by Axios is repeating the "free speech absolutism" line from Musk, even as they note that Twitter and Musk favor some viewpoints over others. That's not responsible journalism.

It feels like cheating: The Trek Domane+ SLR9 gravel bike, reviewed

At $12,999, the Trek Domane+ SLR9 gravel e-bike is a dream to ride.

At that price it should also cure saddle sores and come with a part-time soigneur.

@SrRochardBunson @Helderweb
He says he is protesting actions by the governor, but notice that this man isn’t brandishing this rifle near government buildings or where the governor will be, because he knows he will get shut down, arrested, etc.

No, he instead does it at a school bus stop where children and parents can’t stop him. This isn’t bravery or fighting tyrannical power, this is intimidation and threatening of children and the defenseless.

I'd like to give a quick shoutout to @clarkesworld. They've been getting seriously hammered by a lot of issues, one after another, the most recent being spam AI submissions, and are working as hard as they can to maintain their ideals despite the growing difficulties in this ecosystem.

If you'd like to help them continue the fight, I highly recommend getting a subscription—not only is it helping, it's great sci-fi, too. I subscribe through @WeightlessBooks.

@benjaminhollon @clarkesworld @WeightlessBooks I started subscribing to Clarke's World late last year, and it's been a pleasure! I signed up through the website, it was simple and easy, and I have something to look forward to each month.

Most popular car in Europe Vs. most popular car in the US.

It’s time to restrict max size & weight of 🚗 cars.

forpeterssake,
@forpeterssake@mastodon.xyz avatar

@dmoser Not only that, there literally is no car sold in the U.S. that is on part with the most popular car in Europe. They stopped making them: Chevy Spark, Hyundai Accent, Ford Fiesta, Honda Fit/Jazz, Nissan Versa—all gone. The closest thing in the U.S. market is the poorly reviewed Mitsubishi Mirage.

From 's :

The majority of is caused by corporate profiteering and not wage increases or supply chain bottlenecks. The Kansas City Fed even found that "corporate profit growth accounted for nearly 60% of inflation" in 2021.

I really don't think enough people are mad about this. There are 2 main ways to rein in corporate profiteering: consumer response and price controls. And price controls are slow and clumsy. So people need to be angrier!

Neil Gorsuch failed for 2 years to sell property in rural Colorado. But 9 days after he was named to SCOTUS, it was bought for $1.9M by the CEO of a law firm that regularly appears before the Court. Gorsuch disclosed the sale, but failed to disclose the purchaser.
