Like I’ve said too many times: most software projects fail outright, those that don’t are largely broken, and those that aren’t outright broken are buggy as hell. Much of dev is repair and salvage.

@baldur All one really need know about the #RSS spec to really get a flavor for how well thought out it is, is that it calls for RFC 822 for formatting timestamps.

I love the democratizing principles behind RSS, but it’s a technical omnishambles.

You know how there’s a big barrel where you can empty your water bottle before you go through airport security?

Texas has the same thing, but it’s for guns.

@gknauss The three question marks after the sentence make it seem like the question should begin with “Bitch, …”

PSA: Ritual zero-proof whiskey is godawful. Pour some liquid smoke into some apple cider vinegar, and save yourself the $35.

jimfl,

@collinsworth The Ritual gin has the amazing property that it can ruin anything it is mixed with. The fauxquila, however is kind of interesting, and the amaro is passable.

However, Ritual will spam the ever-loving tar out of you if they ever obtain your particulars.

@anthrocypher The fallacy at work here is: because programming languages are finite and simple, the behavior of programs must be finite and predictable.

of course my car decides to start throwing Engine Malfunction messages and randomly going into limp mode on the Sunday immediately before the bank holiday Monday when I'm meant to be driving to EMF, meaning I can't get it to a mechanic for diagnostics let alone a repair in time.

OBD-II scanner shows nothing at all, inbuilt test mode shows two generic DTC codes that provide no useful information other than it's maybe a sensor doing something wrong.

ffs.

One of my smoke alarms went off at 5am. I got up and checked around, no smoke smell and the other alarm was chill. There's a button to stop the alarm but it would start up again in a minute. I was on the verge of flipping the other switch that permanently disables it when it stopped. Guess it sensed my murderous intent.

jimfl,
@jimfl@hachyderm.io avatar

@jef This happened to me a while back. When I inspected the alarm, a spider crawled out of it. A couple of internets later, I learned that spiders can, in fact, set off fire alarms.
