@toplesstopics
Why is it a concern of yours how Dr. Berry presents her posts and information? She has worked tirelessly to increase access to Black girls and women to STEM. Just seeing someone that looks like they do makes a difference. Cartoons, dolls, comic books, movies, and every form of visual art bring the mind closer to thinking this is possible for me too. @drcaberry
@dbc3 We moved out of NJ as it was being destroyed by Christie. Florida was on its way to becoming a blue state when we moved. It would likely be purple for a long while, but then, boom, the Democratic party here just bobbled and let governor death in. He's an awful tiny man. And the mindset that's spread through our country is mindboggling.
@GottaLaff He is so financially screwed. He can't borrow from any bank licensed in NY, which is about every major bank in the world, he has 30 days to get a bond or pony up the cash. To do those things he needs a loan or will have to sell property at firesale prices. And his first queued-up criminal trial starts on my birthday. I'm having a good year thus far.
Republican State Senator and candidate for Gov of Missouri said during a debate that he opposes an abortion exception for rape victims of any age because then 1 year-olds would be able to get abortions legally..
Republicans are a criminal organization & are completely depraved.
I am so tired of challenging the "rape exception" these ignorant buffoons keep blathering about. Reproductive care is healthcare. Sometimes that involves the termination of a pregnancy. Those are done for all kinds of reasons.
I have to have a tooth removed and an implant done. How is that related? I was careless with my dental care and now I have a ruined molar. Should I be denied healthcare because of my negligence? Same thing. They need to STFU and stay out of women's healthcare.
@Teri_Kanefield The reason we are upset with the DOJ is that Hur, an unqualified hack, was assigned to the Biden classified document case. That he wrote a hatchet job was preordained by who he is. We need to avoid unforced errors.
@GottaLaff I must be in a bad mood every day if that's a measure. I usually at least mute someone over those things. Civics seems to have bipassed those folks.
@sundogplanets@Lana Birds sometimes will change sex when the only male in a group dies. The new male often doesn't live a long time apparently. Did your new male live long?
Heard folks are posting the hashtag #BidenExonerated in order to totally ruin MAGA's day, lol.
President Biden fully exonerated in classified documents investigation.
#DoJ: Trump’s case was different from Biden’s because Trump “obstructed justice” after being given chances to return classified documents.
“Most notably, after being given multiple chances to return classified documents and avoid prosecution, Trump allegedly did the opposite,” the report said. “According to the indictment, Trump not only refused to return the documents for months, but he also obstructed justice by enlisting others to destroy evidence and then to lie about it.”
"It is not our role to assess the criminal charges pending against Trump, but several material distinctions between Mr. Trump's case and Mr. Biden's are clear.
@enoch@skykiss Someone on the far left complained that the NY Times had an opinion piece that they strongly disagreed with. I said opinion pieces in the NY Times have often infuriated me. Why don't you write one and submit it for publication. They then called me a troll. I blocked them for obviously being a troll.
The far left and right in the US is identical in most ways.
I'm in a really late telecon but at least the zoom background of one of my colleagues is a bundt cake, made to look like the #EHT image of M87, and we started the telecon with a conversation about appropriateness of cake for breakfast (the answer is always: yes)?
The more you hang around in software, the more your role changes from building software to being a walking museum of cursed knowledge and hard-won warnings.
Next in our 19 days of #PHANGS galaxies is another gorgeous barred spiral galaxy, NCG 1365, as seen by #Hubble and #JWST.
These images are zoomed-in — they only cover the galaxy’s center, giving us a good view of the "spiral within a spiral" common in galaxies with large bars. We see a hint of the spiral arms at the edges.
Given the trash from Pamela Paul in the NY Times the other day, it's worth upping this again. From @juliaseranolast May, debunking Paul's word salad months before it was written.
Note how none of these meticulous examinations of the science ever make it into the NY Times.
@dgoldsmith@juliaserano The NY Times has a history of letting opinion writers free to write their opinions. It's not news, it's labeled opinion. Therefore it is free from the rigor of news. I don't read a lot of their opinion for that reason.
@vicgrinberg I like celantro too. I was just surprised to find it in a curry recipe. I use it in tex-mex and mexican recipes. I'll have to give it a try next time I make a curry. Have you seen the book "Curries without worries?" It's a wonderful recipe book that's authentic tasting but easier to make. My good friend from India gifted it to me after I stated a desire to make Indian food at home.
@GottaLaff I know you've got this covered, but I wanted to say this is why I always take probiotics and drink kefir when I have to take an antibiotic. Best to you and your health!
