    is most likely not coming to "destroy" the . We have just over 1.5mn monthly active users (MAU) here, clearly we are not a threat to their combined 3,740mn MAU. Heck, Meta probably won't mind losing 1 or 2mn of them to "us" if they can establish a alternative. That's the big prize imo. The bird has over 350mn MAU. Getting only 10 percent of those is worth potentially losing 1 or 2mn to the Fedi.

    It's but I'm not feeling like celebrating because it's also for Germany. From Friday onward, we Germans consume more "Planet" than we have. For the US, overshoot was 13 March, for the world as a whole it'll be 28 July this year. As a species, we almost need 50% more Earth than we have. This is unsustainable. We need political and personal action: reduce and refuse consumption, repair and recycle, start caring for our human and non-human others.

    British peeps: I wondered if any of you can explain the Labour party and its position on .

    Background: I was reading a recent poll stating that 59% of Leave voters who now think leaving was wrong would vote Labour (50% if they were unsure) while those Leave voters who still think Brexit was the right choice would overwhelmingly vote Conservative (51%, only 18% for Labour).

    So campaigning to rejoin the single market would be a winner for Labour, no?

    @BlackAzizAnansi Statistically I‘m not surprised. Masto (and the Fediverse) is (still) a majority European affair, and there are around 2% Black Europeans while you have, in the US, around 12% Black Americans (6x as much in relative terms, 9mn vs 40mn in absolute terms). So maybe having more Americans will change the Whiteness of Masto. But then again coming into such an overtly White space raises the question why a Black person would want to do that (with everything that follows).
