Cedar for a potting bench and cheap 2x4s for a flimsy work bench to put a couple of tools on. Took this photo because I was surprised how much wood I can fit in a without taking out the car seat.

Very much failed in properly measuring the length of the front-to-back rails, probably didn't account for the width of the side to side rails.

Gave me space to add a bit of a backsplash, but I need another 8ft plank to put the shelf that I had planned for. Might get one more than that to make sure the shelf on the bottom looks more polished.

Went into the office building to move desks as I had been assigned to a new one.

Cubicle neighbor says when he hears I am moving "oh thank goodness, you were freaking us out with wearing a mask all the time."

I'm only in once a week or less, usually masked, and try to pick the days when others are out.

On the plus side about going into the office today I got to have another conversation with a coworker who interested in sdr and getting a ham license. He asked what I did with my day off yesterday and I gave him the honest answer... "Spent a few hours getting nylon rope and wire stuck up in a tree.". Had a good chat.

Something made me search online for my mom's name the other day.

The third hit was from a website with funeral home in the name, but not the one we used. It was a obit, clearly AI written, with details from the real obit, but also mixing up pronouns, and saying she was "survived by her late husband" and that she lived in my hometown her whole life (not true)

I don't get what the business model is here other than clicks for ads? Nothing to do about it, but it bugs me.

I'm totally expecting AI generated BS (forgive me for being redundant) to absolutely flood any kind of search. Particularly for a person by name, if you look at what was already done to those searches.

Could be an interesting privacy strategy though - have a network of sites that all publish fake identities for people with similar names? "John Smith-ify" yourself.

Waiting on the mail truck to deliver some bits I’m waiting on. They’re usually here by now. One of the last time it got late, it turned out that our postal carrier had crashed into a police car and both vehicles, and all the mail, went up in flames. Driver and cop were ok.

I tried using an Android TV SBC about a year back instead of buying a RPi, when they just weren't available, with the idea to run a few network services. Yes, the software support on anything else seems to be a big stumbling block, and holds me back from trying more.

Instead, I ended up deciding to upgrade an old desktop PC with newer and more efficient parts.

Oy yes... that's how these things grow. We put some of both my mom and dad's ashes into one immediately after her memorial service. We kept it very simple, which felt strange, but I don't think any of the family members in attendance had much more to say.
