Only sad thing is, while they will go up against the billionaire tax cheats like and his ilk, I’ve been forced multiple times to pay thousands in unanticipated taxes and penalties just because the tax code is too complicated for even to figure out.

i have a friend who, while on a tour of US southern states, ran into a person (Lonnie) widely known as the first Black person to register to vote in that city, and who regularly gives tours around town to visiting northerners like her. she was so enchanted with his story and history she told me she planned to mail him a gift card to thank him. i happened to have a gift card in my wallet that i would never use. i gave it to her, saying send this as well.

i feel bad about this story. tell me why.

@fraying there are SO MANY THINGS wrong with the states highlighted in your map. I wonder if there’s some term that could be used to bring together the … I don’t know, maybe the “intersection” (?) of all the things that are wrong with states where the majority are gerrymandered into being on the wrong side of history.

    Mastodon poster: The default UI here emits a painful electric shock when I click on the like button. That’s kind of bad.

    Replies: you can turn off electric shocks in the advanced settings

    Poster: ok, but they really should be off by default. Electric shocks are unnecessary and dangerous.
