It's that time again...I gotta get to work on my Maker Faire and SF Zine Festival applications, and cross my fingers that they accept me.

Great to meet @Gargron, @andypiper and many other #Fediverse and #Mastodon enthusiasts in SF.

Thanks to @mike and @Flipboard for holding the social event!

@frozencanuck @Gargron @andypiper @mike @Flipboard If you start inviting local (to SF) folks running instances, I'd love to join in.

The New York Times seems pretty convinced that TFG will win. Or is it just clickbait?

@Julie Maybe it's just what they want to have happen?

‘When she came back out, 17 hours later, Gubser was at the Farallon Islands, 29.7 miles away…’

“I was pretty steady for the most part, but at the end we hit a strong current and the water got colder,” said Gubser. “My progress was slowed because I was chilled to the bone. I did not expect 43 degrees. That was nuts.”

@burritojustice I'm guessing she didn't grow up in the Bay Area, with grandparents who would go on about how dangerous that area is?

Confession: I only recently started watching Girls5eva.

Another Confession: I watched it all, loved it all! So good!

Hoping for a season 4!

just glanced at this tag and imagining if we applied this level of innovation and resources to neighborhood scale organic food systems or healing generational trauma

kristinHenry,
@kristinHenry@vis.social avatar

@seachanger or listen to the nursing staff in cancer hospitals, instead of trying to drop in some irrelevant AI product.

My recent stay, in a cancer hospital, gave me so much admiration for everyone who works in one in any capacity, and how everything's design and form is obviously evolved from experience.

kristinHenry,
@kristinHenry@vis.social avatar

@seachanger speaking of cancer and money...my current understanding is that access to early diagnostics is the biggest challenge in cancer treatment. Especially for women.

kristinHenry,
@kristinHenry@vis.social avatar

@seachanger what if we took even a fraction of AI VC funding and put that into developing a painless mammogram?! Or mobile medical that gave free pap-exams across the country? The world?

kristinHenry,
@kristinHenry@vis.social avatar

@seachanger hpv is an easy one. and cheap. and it kills women. so, it pops up in my brain first.

Like, what is the one cheap maximum lifesaving thing I could do if I had funding? HPV vaccines and taking exams out to the people....like mobile library vans.

And yes, cancer is on my brain lately. I'm just over two weeks into post-op recovery. Doing great! Thanks to the care I've had access to.

When I ask medical staff about what's the one thing they'd do if they had funding? Early diagnostics!

I sure wish I could see this amazing aurora, but the fog is rolling in over Twin Peaks, and it's still unlikely that it will be active by the time it's dark here? It's not likely.

I'll still go outside, just in case, after dark tonight.

kristinHenry,
@kristinHenry@vis.social avatar

Definite pink tinge to the sky, but too much fog to see anything.

Oh well.

kristinHenry,
@kristinHenry@vis.social avatar

@CStamp it's solid San Francisco fog, which I normally love.

I'm happy to at least have seen a little hot pink in the fog :)

Playing with aurora pink for today's drawing. I didn't get to see it in last night's sky, here in San Francisco, sadly. I could have sworn there was a slightly pink tint to the sky, but it was probably just wishful thinking.
