fuck spotify in general and fuck spotify for getting involved in podcasting. they have text selection disabled in the episode descriptions on web so if someone in the podcast says something something "mentioned in the description" and you try to copy it you can't.
I want to talk to #OSM people at #cccamp23, I want to get more involved. Feeling its importance more direly while being in a country with absolutely unusable google maps
I absolutely hate the term 'fedizens' and will never use it. I have seen people using 'mastonauts' for Mastodon users but also feel equally cringed by it. I was checking in on Nostr and they are calling their users 'nostriches' which is also awful. Bluesky people keep using 'skeeters' as a term for users there. I see we have some innate need to come up with these terms but can we try to be a bit more creative or something?
it would be an interesting exercise to sit down and try to write a list of every tool you have utilized in the past year, I guess first you have to define what a tool is, I was thinking of this as I was washing a pan and using some steel wool to wash the pan
weird conspiracy shit that might be worth someone looking into:
so I was trying to katch up and understanding who this Yevgeny Prigozhin character is and ended up on The Wall Street Journal’s latest documentary “Shadow Men: Inside Russia’s Secret War Company” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMXnJMCoFYI
30secs in, something weird: the opening shot is AI generated, but no where does it say this. You can obviously tell cause the banner that should be static is shifting between different letter forms
Way more interesting and healthy fediverse news is happening in the shadows and is barely getting discussed! Discourse has federation between different instances of itself and other #fediverse software such as Mastodon working!
trying to convert a tumblr archive into markdown to import into obsidian, fucking hell what were they thinking the archive they give you is such shit. they give you all the images in a folder called media and then all the posts with the images in separate html for each post but the images in the post are linked to the online version of the images not the ones they just let you download
After reading the words 'Latin America' just now, it struck me think how weird this term is. What do we, United States Americans, really mean? Would it be more accurate to call it Spanish and Portuguese America?
I don't understand whats up with my posts getting interacted with these days. It feels really random, sometimes I post something that feels like it would get a lot of traction and it gets like 3 likes and then randomly something pops off and gets a life of its own. The "non algorithm" feels very different from last year.
Its ironic that both @JeriLRyan and @georgetakei of #StarTrek are active on the fediverse across different instances and that is only possible because of the federation! Is this just a coincidence?
if you are not using @phanpy as your main #fediverse client you are seriously missing out. It is absolutely the most well thought out and slick interface. I started using it on mobile as well and its probably the slickest PWA I have ever tried.
