Finally finished BioShock tonight after 17 years and two previous failed attempts!

Finally clicked as I played it more like an immersive sim than a straight FPS, and while it has some flaws (endless pipe mania, basically a corridor shooter and slightly awkward combat), the visual design, plasmids and tonics elevated it into something more than the sum of its parts. #ShareYourGames

Just got back from a week on the #IsleOfMan. Yes it’s a small, wet, windy rock slap-bang in the middle of the Irish Sea, but it’s largely unspoiled, the people are welcoming and it was great to get in touch with my heritage, as my maternal great-great grandmother was Manx. 🇮🇲

I would be lying if I said I didn’t care about this number, but not in a “social clout” sort of way, I am genuinely thrilled and excited to be here with you people.

I left social media entirely a few years ago and it was with some trepidation I returned, considering how good it was for my mental health. But you guys are all amazing and I hope we continue to have great interactions in 2024!

-EDIT- I’ve been advised blocks carry over.

One thing I severely dislike about the #Ivory iOS client (and I assume is intentional) is the block/mute function is all performed by the app and is not tied to your Mastodon account. So if you log on via web or another app, it’s all lost.

This, I assume, is to provide friction when you want to move or try another client. So, I have cancelled my sub renewal and I’ll move to Ice Cubes when it expires.

Happy to be explained why if I’m mistaken here.

Here’s the latest addition to my collection: a red super-slim PS3! It’s got a sliding mechanism for the disc tray, which I think is very cute. :ablobcatheart: #ShareYourGames

Identical to the last image except the eject button has been pressed. Unlike the regular and slim editions of this console, the disc cover slides downwards to reveal the drive. There is no disc inside, so you can see the lens.

It’s rare that I play games in the year of their release, but I’m making an exception for Prince of Persia: the Lost Crown, as I bought it on day 1 and only just getting round to starting it.

Found it tough going at the start (I’ve never been good at parry timing in games), but slowly working my way through. Switched the dialogue audio to Farsi for a more authentic experience.

Finished What Remains of Edith Finch on the Steam Deck over the last couple of nights. A short walking sim/light puzzle game where the protagonist attempts to unravel a mystery about why everyone in her extended family has died.

Quite poignant and eerie, I enjoyed it a lot! #ShareYourGames

21st century “semi-retro” nook coming along. Put up a shelf today which currently has the #WiiU on it along with a #NintendoSwitch dock below. Plan is to get a #PS2, #PS3 and #GameCube to go with it.

Playing Roboquest at the moment with a friend on PC. It’s a fast-paced, cel-shaded co-op roguelite FPS. Took a while to get its hooks into me but really enjoying it now. There are multiple classes and each run is unique as you get offered different weapons and perks as you go through your run.

There are also new abilities that stay between runs, which means you get further and further as you play, through a combination of learning the enemies & terrain but also with better gear. #ShareYourGames

My wife bought me the Taito Edition Super Pocket for my birthday and it’s a lovely little handheld. It has 17 pre-installed games and takes Evercade cartridges.

It literally fits in my pocket and will be great for travelling when I don’t have room for a giant modern handheld! #ShareYourGames
