Once in awhile, I realize how lucky I am to live in Chicago. There is an art student in some part of the world who would love to see this sculpture in person, but for whatever reason, won’t be able to make the trip. But I could theoretically see it every day. There are blessings like this is your life, too, if you know where (and how) to look.
@mckra1g i did visit Chicago last year, and it's much nicer a city than I expected (i don't expect much from US cities 😅) and yeah, this red thing (😁) is quite a sight to behold, the bean mirror also was quite nice. I did enjoy walking around the lake, and the parks, too, definitely a nice place.
The Chicago Board of Trade building anchors LaSalle Street in the financial district. It serves as headquarters for Bruce Wayne Enterprises in Batman:The Dark Knight.
“But why should the daffodils and tulips
Get all the praise and blessings?
My rebirth goes unnoticed — I am worthy
Of smiles and dazzled cries of worship.”
— Lea Malot
@mckra1g Ah, what a cool pick! I have not read this one, but Paul takes great care with his books so you are in good hands. (And of course I am happy to answer questions, though my online-ness is a little spotty rn._
I’ve never understood the allure of parking your super expensive watercraft in the harbor and drinking your Saturday away. If I had a boat, I’d be taking that baby across Lake Michigan and really using it. Does that make me plebian? 🤔
The pandemic babies who were born in 2021 will probably never see a world that resembles the one we’re inhabiting now. For those who think we’ll have established a colony on Mars by then and will be shuttling humans that direction, I say wake the fuck up and take care of the planet you’re already living on. JFC.
It’s days like today when I really wish teleportation existed. All three of my kids are on the west coast. We’re face timing today, but it would be great to actually see them in person.
