@jcrabapple Are you blocking Threads? It looks like mstdn.social is and there's a few people I want to follow there that moved from Xitter to Threads. I think mstdn.social is blocking them already.

I'll be migrating my profile today somewhere I guess.

jcrabapple,

@mcrocker 😂

jcrabapple,

@mcrocker Universeodon is not blocking Threads

If you're going to use a Chromium based browser, use @Vivaldi It's actually run by decent humans.

mcrocker,

@solgunsidar @Vivaldi Because I want syncing between my devices not controlled by Google, along with all the other features that it provides.

jcrabapple,

@mcrocker

Plus the great tab management features.

Anyone else have a doom pile of packages that you’re procrastinating opening?

I just discovered and I can’t believe I’ve gone so long without having this as my background music. I’m like super focused now.

Anyone else have a dog who watches for your every movement and acts like you're about to go on a walk if you so much as adjust in your chair?

mcrocker,

@jcrabapple I'll get up to go pee and this guy just bolts to the door like he wasn't out side 15 minutes ago.

Just had the best of my life from a restaurant in a gas station. Never pass up gas station tacos in a predominantly Hispanic area.

Maining again. Got tired of weird quirks in Fedora/Nobara. I'm fine using an LTS distrosince i'm running mostly all Flatpaks. Sucking it up and using as my DE though.

mcrocker,

@jcrabapple Being honest, it's mostly Wayland. Nobara also has the slightly weird update process since their repos aren't on sync with Fedora. But it's Wayland causing issues for me.

I know I can run it as an X11 session but from what I've read Fedora might drop that next release. I figured my best bet right now is to just run an LTS release since almost everything I ran is Flatpak anyhow and PopOS keeps the kernel updated.

mcrocker,

@jcrabapple WoW runs faster in an X11 session, and that's my primary game. I've got a 10-15% FPS drop if it's in XWayland.

That and screen sharing keeps crashing if I try to use Slack in anything except the browser.

Ok - turning 42 in a few weeks, and I thought I’d ask the : How old is too old to go to Dave and Busters? I've never been before and thought it'd be a cool thing to do for my

@ivory Mac Client, the "post" button is really hard to see in light mode, but only for a reply, not on a new post.

@mcrocker Yea we fixed it and will push an update out soon.

Ok went crazy on reboot. Like just white screening on me. Guess I'll flip over to Firefox. What even is going on here?

mcrocker,

@jcrabapple @Vivaldi Solved it. Have to enable the vivaldi://flags/-vulkan to use Vulkan as the backend.

Launch it with -disable-gpu-compositing, enable that flag, then relaunch as normal and it works just fine.

mcrocker,

@jcrabapple @Vivaldi Ok well turns out that breaks some websites....so...back to Firefox...

Seriously thinking about hosting a personal instance of Mastodon for my own use. I’d like to control where and who gets federated and stuff like that. Would use a hosting service. Any downsides?

@mcrocker I haven't found any downsides myself! +1 for giving it a whirl!

@mcrocker small instances need to use relays if you want stuff like following hashtags / searching for hashtags to be useful.
