Not even 24 hrs after making history as the first company to mass fire workers for pro-Palestine protests, by summarily firing 28 people, Google announced that the “(ir)responsible AI org,” the one they created in response to firing me, is now reporting up the Israeli office, through an SVP there.

Seems like they want us to know how forcefully and clearly they are backing this genocide.

@exchgr @nowhereplains Yeah, the only thing we can do on this end that shows up there is to like or boost Threads posts - on that end it doesn’t say who did, but it gives counts of those interactions that came from the fediverse. It’s weird!

With the @ifnotnowboston account here, I'm thinking I'd like to lean in to what the fedi is good at, and use it more for community and conversation, than breaking news and broadcast. Like, more discussion prompts I guess. Are there some good examples of accounts doing that successfully?

Bluesky was short term disastrous for the potential of Mastodon as a Twitter alternative but in the end it might have been necessary. This place wasn't ready, and journalists and left activists were much better able to form a functional ecosystem there. When we can share content from there back here it's gonna be so good.
