Taking a short Mastodon break. I'm tired of the culture of criticism here. Unlike Twitter, on Mastodon, it comes from those on the left who attack liberals for not meeting their purity tests. I've been attacked for wanting to help defeat Trump by those who don't like a Biden policy; for COVID-safe dining outside with heaters because that harms the environment; for traveling masked because some immunocompromised feel they can't. Stop attacking others; start being the change you want in the world.
@augieray Just wanted to send over a high five for the idea of heated outdoor dining! I am glad that some places do have outdoor seating, but I get irked when they put so little effort in making the experience comfortable (especially in cooler climates)!
Privacy is dead, and all of your data, including medical information, is constantly being sold to the highest bidder. This is a terrible situation, and there should be strict regulations for those who are breaking the law. Source https://www.threads.net/@thebrianpenny/post/C6y2ckfxaDj/
I just realized that, although @pixelfed lets me follow Threads users who have Fediverse sharing enabled (e.g., @reuben, @ryanbates, and @friskygeek), it looks like their photo posts aren't appearing when viewing their profiles in Pixelfed (despite my following them for weeks now). How should I go about reporting this?

I was wondering, as Loops will be based on Pixelfed: is there a chance that the 15MB limit for photos will be increased? I ask since I assume most of the videos that will be uploaded will be much larger than 15MB.
This morning, Logitech announced their new webcam that has a Micro Four Thirds lens mount (the Mevo Core). I was really excited about this until I saw the page on Amazon mention that it is rechargeable (without listing any other specific details about the battery).
It turns out that it has a sealed in battery that isn't removable/replaceable. So once the battery stops holding a charge after a couple of years, the entire device will become e-waste. So disappointing.
@SomeGadgetGuy Same here... I had always wished for a webcam that was essentially a box with a lens and USB connection, and this appeared to be just that (and then some). I guess I'll just have to settle for something like a Lumix G100 with a dummy battery instead.
So I left a similar comment on PetaPixel's article about the Mevo Core, and someone from the Mevo team replied to clarify that the battery actually IS user-replaceable! Wow, so happy to be wrong about this!
@caseynewton I'm scared of what this will do to the condensed, 90 minute versions of Raw and SD (and 1 hour versions of NXT) that currently play on Hulu. Those are a lot easier to watch when trying to catch up.
Maybe folks can settle a #Debate for me and a friend.
I have a glass measuring cup. I fill it with two cups of water, and microwave it to bring it to a boil. The cup has not come in contact with any other materials or ingredients.
That cup is CLEAN right?
After pouring out the water, it can go back in the cupboard?
@SomeGadgetGuy As long as the turntable plate in the microwave is clean then yeah, no need to wash it. I suppose sitting the measuring cup on a napkin while in the microwave could solve that, too (if the plate isn't absolutely clean).
#Throwbackthursday to 2003. When my fascination with VR really fired up. I was so excited to have a 1MP camera to get a photo of using this.
A WHOLE MILLION PIXELS!!! WHOA 🤯
@SomeGadgetGuy Crazy how much VR tech had advanced in 2 years! This was me in 2001, where the headset had to be suspended on (presumably) hydraulic arms!
Although you can't see my face, you can tell that this is me because I apparently have been obssessed with tiny messenger bags and sling packs for over two decades now.
