    @JoeRess Not B/W and laser, but I've been using an Epson EcoTank printer for a few years now. Never had any issues on linux, windows and android.
    And no ink cartridges: it has 4 ink tanks that need to be refilled every few months (from bottles that don't seem to have any chip in them AFAICS).

    @linmob Due to circumstances I couldn't make it to fosdem this year. I just saw your recorded talk, and would like to thank you for the shout-outs to Kasts and the other mobile apps!

    Behind most of these apps there are usually only one to maybe a few developers spending some hours as a hobby. Most of the direct interactions with users are through bug reports, which isn't always very rewarding. ;-) So it's really nice to hear some genuine, heart-felt praise once in a while!

    Switched to now is winding down desktop support. Never liked not being able to properly backup my TOTP codes anyway.

    @tealcows @jbaert @jeroen @bitwarden I'm very happy with KeePassXC (desktop) and KeePassDX (android). It's possible to put passwords and TOTP entries in different databases.
    It's two baskets, but from the same vendor/protocol., so it might not be up to everyone's liking.

    Gisteren waren we met de kinderen van onze straat driekoningen gaan zingen. Ik was even een beetje voorop gegaan toen er een Porsche aangevlamd kwam tegen 70 km/u in een zone 50 vlak voor de blinde bocht waarachter de kinderen stonden. Ik heb hem teken gedaan dat hij moest vertragen en kreeg geclaxoneer terug, waarop hij nog ging versnellen.
    Net in die bocht kwam er een tegenligger aan (+ de kinderen). Hij verloor effectief de controle.

    @peturdainn Maar gelukkig zonder iets te raken.

    Deze zomer ook een Lamborghini met rijkeluiskindjes in doen stoppen in dezelfde straat om dezelfde reden. Ze waren blokjes aan het rijden tegen 70-80 km/u. Werd uiteraard de huid volgescholden...

    @AntennaPod It took me a while to find the new feature that everyone was posting about. Turns out it's only accessible through the home screen which I've disabled.

    Maybe it's a good idea to also make it available through the statistics page?

    @joel 😅 Firstly because it's got Dutch language podcasts in it, and secondly because it's probably not entirely representative since I do at least half of my listening through another app: @kasts on desktop Linux which I sync through gpodder-nextcloud. (I'm actually the main developer of that app. 😉)

    But I'll share it anyhow in a few minutes.

    Well, actually, @AntennaPod, does that overview include synced episodes, or only minutes listened on that particular device?

    AH (Albert Heijn) currently gives you 6 beers if you pay for 5, and since they do have some uncommon ones in their selection, I have now stocked up on fruitbomb, motorolie, haishaku and a few others

    I think I finally figured out a decent dark theme for apps in using and it's dark Gnome theme but Tokodon doesn't seem to like it at all so I will have to use a PWA for Mastodon again. It's really nice to finally have a somewhat decent dark theme even tho I would prefer the dark version of Breeze, maybe KDE will make that possible at some point I guess!

    @Fosstonaut @linmob Theme switching from within an app has recently become possible (including dark themes). I've already added it to Kasts. I think it's also implemented for tokodon, but I'm not sure. I think most of these are currently unreleased. Should be available with 24.02 (i.e. first qt6 release).

    @peturdainn Import tax calculation is ridiculous since they started enforcing it properly a few years ago. It doesn't matter whether GLS (or another company) is in the middle or not.

    Not that I endorse the free shipping across the globe thing we had for a few years before. It's just extremely annoying that it's currently impossible to judge the total cost in advance.

    @peturdainn You're right that there are quite a few (bigger) shops that now accurately show the costs in advance, and that definitely is an improvements over the import "lottery" from before.

    Unfortunately, I haven't been so lucky in all lately: had a few more-costs-than-actual-value incidents when ordering some obscure parts.

    @thunderbird No hate here whatsoever, but I also think that now feels quite out-of-place on . I really do like the new feature(s) (roadmap) and UI improvements except for the (gnome-like) client-side decorations.

    I've been using Thunderbird as my main email client for over 20 years and will continue to do so. But it would perhaps be nice to have the possibility for better integration with other DE paradigms. Is there perhaps a place to open a feature request for this?

    Folks, the reason / / / Zuckerberg hasn’t launched in the isn’t because the EU is determined to protect your privacy, it’s because the EU is determined to protect The Single Market (peace be upon it) from anticompetitive behaviour. It’s because they’re using Instagram to launch Threads and sharing data between them (and not with EU startups that might want to use that data too). It’s , not . It’s markets, not people.

    @aral I'm beginning to suspect that they might not even implement ActivityPub at all.

    Just talking about implementing it at some vague point in the future might be good enough to fool the EU regulators. By the time they realize the real intentions it'll be too late to do anything about it anymore.

    Suspend is working reliably after I switched to tow-boot. I noticed that KDE plasma is showing the hibernate option ever since (which must mean that all conditions have been met for it to work in theory).

    But I can only try it later today...
