She/her :blobcatheartlesbian: ex-software dev now writing words for money, fun, and/or survival. I like new people but may be too busy to follow back.

Republicans have campaigned on killing me and mine my whole life, so "Democrats are just as bad" crap gets a fuck off and an unfollow.

You say you're a Christian, but if Jesus was sitting before you, moaning that his balls were so full, begging for release, desperate for the kind of ejaculation only fellatio can provide, would you suck his cock?

WOULD YOU GET ON YOUR KNEES FOR JESUS??

Summer is the season of returning shows, revivals and/or spinoffs of original franchises, says @sepinwall. He wrote about his most anticipated shows, including "Black Mirror," "The Bear" and "And Just Like That..." for @RollingStone. Which are you looking forward to most?

@mikej @greenhombre Not enough better to matter. There will be a little drop but against >400? It'll be scratch marks.

NYC has pretty good air these days. I mean, they're right on the coast, mostly islands, and the clean air act worked:

Apple's top specification apple computer costs $12K. With a payment plan, that's less than
rent.

I propose the new company motto:

Apple, still better than your landlord 🤷‍♀️

moira,
@moira@mastodon.murkworks.net avatar

@Azuaron @rose Yes, I'm aware most Intel (and more recently some AMD) have had onboard basic graphics. I run this mastodon node, I ran a divisional server room at the Microsoft Corporation before becoming a systems developer, I am aware of PCs.

That doesn't mean you could game acceptably on them, or use them meaningfully to accelerate your graphics and graphics-like tasks. The capabilities between Intel and AMD onboard graphics vs. Apple Silicon integrated graphics are not comparable, and it's the capabilities of the Apple Silicon graphics that matters here, because Nvidia in particular needs to worry if Apple pulls this off.

(See also how hard they've been working to develop their own ARM hybrid CPU/GPU.)

moira,
@moira@mastodon.murkworks.net avatar

@Azuaron @rose Functionally, Apple is working to demonstrate that dedicated GPUs are not necessary.

They're working to demonstrate that the same capabilities or better can be implemented within a unified CPU-GPU computing module at both much lower cost and much lower power efficiency. Literally nobody is close to Apple right now in computing power per watt, which incidentally is also computing power per unit of heat.

In a server environment, which is where the bulk of the money is, that's everything.

If they pull this off, Intel and AMD will replicate, and Nvidia is in a lot of trouble. Generically. Unless they move into the same field - which, you'll note, they are.

Once Thingiverse's cache catches up (ETA: it did), I've uploaded an improved version of my thread-out alarm here:

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5930651

The new ones are version 4, and the old ones - still up - are version 3.

Version 3 worked fine with good filament coming off a new spool; version 4 works fine with that too, but also works well with random bent-up bullshit which - hey guess what - is when I actually want a filament alarm!

Also V4 has a speaker grille for louder but harsher-sounding alarm. That's kind of why I left V3 up there; if it was loud enough for you already, you can use V3's speaker case with V4's thread holder and it'll all snap together just fine.

I saw this internal ... / ... number estimate this morning and saved it for Friday's Watch.

Just now I popped into my neighbourhood buy-nothing group (we give/trade stuff we don't need but others might) and saw someone asking for a dresser for their new roommate...

...who'd fled Texas on short notice after the new round of anti-LGBT/anti-trans-in-particular laws.

So that was a yikes. This is starting to hit home now for the straights.

A short Watch today, the majority of which is about how control over women and policing of femininity is core to all of this, including:

  • TPUSA telling young women to give up both birth control and life goals (other than birthing children)

  • Trump going after women in North Carolina

  • House Republicans voting as a block against life-saving abortions

  • Anti-trans assholes attacking cisgendered girls for having short hair and participating in sport

But also more fash shit, studies finally starting to pick up on evangelical ties to authoritarianism, DeSantis-supporting nazis outside Disneyland, and more:
