Trust us when we say that these massive fires will keep happening unless we get serious about addressing climate change.

It may seem unfathomable that such disruptive fires could become recurring events, but trust us: they can and will.

I think I'll have to order some of the stronger resin, and there are still plenty of design issues to resolve. But it works! And once I get the process down, making new font wheels will just be an hour or so of moderate tedium!

@TheLetterTen STORYTIME in Cascadia (the PNW) we have a tree called the Big Leaf Maple, because the leaves are genuinely huge, like, a sheet of paper in size, so for the longest time I wanted to do a 'zine called "leaf" that would be printed on, well...

never found a workable way to do it tho', hand-typeset rubber stamps were the closest I got but weren't what I hoped

so basically

it’s never going to be quite right because I can clean it up and file off all the casting marks and unbend all the bars I want but none of that is going to stop Pony from fucking up the screw hole now is it

i mean it is better than it was and I can use it and i did kinda go off scrubbing it and filing down casting marks but what it really needs is that hole filled in and re-tapped back out and that’s not something I can fix

but it’s a lot closer now so that’s worth something and i guess i’ll finish really cleaning it up (tomorrow is rotary wire brush time then sanding I think)

So for those not aware, there are wildfires in Canada. I do not live in Canada. I'm in upstate New York. A couple hundred miles from Canada, and even further from the fires.

But this is what it looks like outside my house right now. A yellow haze, darkened skies, and yes, that yellow hue is real. Everything looks yellow. The inside of my house is in a state of almost sunset right now, at noon.

What you can't experience from these pictures is the smell of smoke. It smells like a nearby bonfire.

Climate change is a problem and we are all going to regret this real fast.
