Logged an incident report at work explaining how I got this infection from a maskless co-worker because I was forced to be onsite and they knew their partner had "a mystery cold" and could work from home whenever they want but chose to come in anyway.

I don't believe anything will come of it, though.

COVID-19 cases continue to impact bed availability and staffing at Grampians Health Ballarat Base Hospital with 14 COVID-positive patients in hospital as of Monday morning. This did not include patients with influenza. Dr Grenfell said both viruses were a serious concern, particularly for those at a higher risk of severe outcomes - and many people had loved ones under threat. "The issue for people out there are those with impaired immunity," Dr Grenfell said. "We're continuing to bring outbreaks in aged care centres under control...we're testing inpatients and those across our cancer wards. "If everybody who is symptomatic tests themselves, many will show they have COVID-19." The nation's drug regulator, the Therapeutic Goods Administrator, has also been urging people to check their rapid antigen tests (commonly known as a RAT) and to not use a kit after its expiry or use-by date. City of Ballarat's free RAT program finished at the end of 2023. Dr Grenfell said all the health and hygiene lessons from COVID-19 still mattered to prevent viral outbreaks: social distancing; hand hygiene; good ventilation; wearing masks when in closed spaces and unable to social distance; and, keeping vaccinations up to date. He said masks do work as a line of protection and people should consider masking up once more. If sick - even with a sniffle - Dr Grenfell urged people to stay at home.

I assume I have covid.

Unfortunately the PCR result will be the only result on my medical record.

And today I return to work and one of my maskless coworkers tells me he was also off sick with covid last week, and laughing about giving it to me whilst denying it was him because "I can't prove shit" - as if anyone in my workplace would give a fuck even if I proved it beyond reasonable doubt by some magic or other.

Just a coincidence that he brought it to the office I'm forced to work from and he had several conversations about his wife's "flu" with me.

If only my employer was forced to provide clean air by some kind of workplace safety laws.

I want my 2019 life back. And I want the world to be safe. But both of those keep getting farther away thanks to the inaction of public health agencies. As the CDC weakens guidelines, it makes me LESS able to go out and enjoy life, because the CDC's actions increase the risks. My manager just told the team "Just fyi covid is everywhere in our organization right now, including this building. Stay safe and wash your hands."

My manager revoked my WfH agreement last August. Mine alone, not anyone else's. Literally anyone else in my team and others can WfH at their discretion. My manager is nominally on-site at all times and for the last year or so has been, in fact, on-site only 2-3 mornings per week at most.

My manager refused to let me take the office that became available which had a window that opens and independent air conditioning. My manager took that office for themself. For 2-3 mornings a fucking week. Because they didn't like the office they chose for themself last year.

While I enjoy the cubicle farm affectionately named "the plague pit".

In my N95 respirator mask. Watching everyone else wash their hands occasionally and call in sick repeatedly.

SA Health says local health networks are responsible for ensuring staff comply with relevant policies, including vaccination requirements. “The (vaccination) policy covers the dTpa vaccine and other vaccines to ensure we meet our obligations from an occupational health and safety perspective,” a statement says. “Since 2020, only one employee out of more than 45,000 SA Health staff has had their role terminated for refusing the dTpa vaccine.” SA Health is aware of employees who are not compliant with booster requirements for dTpa, and staff are being sent reminders to get these boosters. “Appropriate disciplinary action may be taken if staff remain non-complaint, which could include suspension or termination of employment,” SA Health says.

Also disheartened to hear a doctor claim there is literally nothing humans can do to prevent the spread of a virus. Seems he believes viruses are magical examples of spontaneous generation, like bees (allegedly) were to the ancient Greeks.

I'm curious how many times he has caught covid so far. He seems a bit brain damaged. But it wasn't really the time or place to ask.

The following articles suggest that most of the data collection has been stopped - because we aren't in the emergency stage of the pandemic - even though WHO has been clear that we are still in a pandemic.
