edit: it led to a fascinating web preservation backstory about the origins of the font itself:

@vga256 I bought some P22 fonts back in the day - they had some great stuff. Must have been great - it's the only font shop name I recall from back when I had to deal with such things, and it's a fond memory.

or if it is just for firearms, which the US seems to think are their God-given right and as vital as prescription meds to bring on holiday. Or something.

Scientists have warned of increased turbulence, particularly “clear air turbulence” which is harder to detect or forecast, as global heating warms air at higher altitudes and makes weather more unpredictable.

How is it legal for petition gatherers to get paid per signature??? this is nuts

"Dana said the petitioner told her that he receives $12 for every signature he collects for California Forever. Another petition circulator collecting signatures in Solano County, who preferred not to give a name, told the Vallejo Sun that California Forever pays $6 per signature and an additional $3 bonus for a total of $9 per signature if the initiative qualifies for the ballot. The other petitions the circulator was offering to voters paid $3 per signature."

For Walkable Neighborhoods, We Need More Useful Businesses

Op-ed: It’s not just about density. Urban residents need fewer dentists’ offices and mattress stores – and more corner stores and gyms.

If I had to lose one house, though, it would be 5.

I’m interested in a lot of transit activism in N America but I swear people would think you’re a total weeb if you talk about transit in places with good transit. Trying to imagine talking to people in Singapore or Hong Kong or Seoul about.. loving trains

I think they would back tf away from me and run away.

Like my friend always says ‘I don’t want to be a transit fan. I just want great transit’

If all it takes to get the government and others to declare protests not peaceful and unacceptable is for some right-wingers to show up and beat up, or even just try to beat up, some of the protestors...

Expect right-wingers to show up at A LOT of protests and beat up A LOT of people.

(Because they don't seem to get stopped by law enforcement, and even when they shoot and kill people they basically get away with it. See also attempts to basically make it okay to ram protestors with cars.)

William Morris on work

Here, you see, are two kinds of work - one good, the other bad; one not far removed from a blessing, a lightening of life; the other a mere curse, a burden to life.

What is the difference between them, then? This: one has hope in it, the other has not...

worthy work carries with it the hope of pleasure in rest, the hope of pleasure in our using what it makes, and the hope of pleasure in our daily creative skill.

All other work but this is worthless; it is slaves' work - mere toiling to live, that we may live to toil.

"Without surcharges, restaurants will have to raise prices or absorb the cost of higher wages and local mandates"

To be clear, what is required is that the part of the price of the meal that was buried in the surcharge, now has to be shifted to the price for the item on the menu. It's not raising prices, it's just changing how those prices are shown. But restaurants such as Pacific Height's Spruce don't want to do it and are making it sound like an attack on workers and consumers.
