@jake4480 yep. I did a trip once from MS to DC and it was like 23 hours😂😂😂
The trip I’ve always wanted to do is like a week or ten day trip that goes from I think Chicago to Seattle. Not the regular Amtrak one but there’s one that’s like a tour deal. Super big $ though.
I knew that IMDb had been around a long time but TIL it predates the World Wide Web, as it was initially launched as Usenet group rec.arts.movies in 1990 and moved to the web in 1993. And it's been owned by Amazon since 1998, because of course it has 🙄
Close up of pieces of asbestos and cement found on the beach.
Asbestos cement was widely used for siding shingles and roofing tiles. Most notably it was used for municipal water pipes.

Whenever I'd see those weird data points with my wrist-based heart rate while running I'd think to myself that it was either a sensor sampling issue or maybe some weird thing with acceleration. I never really studied it though. Turns out it's something called cadence lock. Maybe I'll go back to using a chest strap again for runs. #running runningwritings.com/2021/05/ca…
Watched the first 2 episodes of this show Under the Bridge on Hulu. It's pretty good, and it's had both a Sonic Youth song (Becuz) and a Nirvana song (Something in the Way) in it already. The show is based in 1997.
But I'm waiting for the inevitable Chili Peppers song that's coming, I mean, it's the name of the show. I'll be pretty surprised if it doesn't. Guess we will see when the new episodes come out. 🤣
Got a killer #MusicWomenWednesday for this week. When I was a kid in the 90s, I had this awesome Wax Trax video compilation (on VHS!) from 1994, it had KMFDM, Coil and Laibach on it (and a ton of other great bands) including BRAINDEAD SOUNDMACHINE.
This was the first way I ever heard this great Patsy Cline song, this unforgettable 'metaldisco' (as they liked their genre to be called) cover. It's totally wild and probably underappreciated.
What do you listen to while running? I need some new songs on my playlist. I’m open to most anything as long as it isn’t jazz, modern pop, or modern bro-country.
@WTL I tried podcasts in the past but it just didn’t work for me. Part of the problem is that I’m super particular about which podcasts I listen to anyway. I’ve never tried a book though. Maybe I’ll give that a shot. My biggest issue with audiobooks in general is my mind wanders sometimes and next thing I know I’ve zoned out for half a chapter and have to back up. 😂
Don't want to jinx it, but I'm fairly excited I may be getting a super cheapie bass guitar in a few hours. I haven't had a bass in like, maybe 20 years? 🤞
I'm a huge 7SECONDS fan, especially the stuff they've done since 1999. I play their 1999 one and also their 2005 and 2014 ones a LOT. Their most recent one in 2014 was 'Leave a Light On' (below) and it's of course a damn masterpiece. It's been 10 years, it would be so cool to get another one from these guys.
So, THIS shreds. Band is called '92. They're from Long Beach. Their self-titled EP comes out February 23. It's hardcore, kinda - their one guitarist is wearing a Helmet shirt in their photo on Bandcamp. I hear the Helmet, and there's some RATM and other great stuff in there. The RIFFAGE. Linking both to this video and their Bandcamp below it.
It's just nice to know that the Road-Runner Manufacturing Co. has a location near me in Phoenix in case I need to go in person to requisition their services
