First thing that went through my mind... was this outage related to the solar storm? I don't feel qualified to even speculate. But the solar flux this evening isn't as high as the past two days. https://www.spaceweather.gov/
@ai6yr I’m guessing not(?), since the effects of the CME are waning. Who knows. This is the first GOES outage I can remember, but at least it appears to be brief.
The melodious sounds of a new (work) laptop, straining under weight of #Windows 11 and the requisite anti-virus software. Nice toasty air coming out of the vent. 🔥
@passthejoe I agree completely. Although I don't use it much for desktop work, I have a low-end NUC that runs AlmaLinux very well in desktop mode. Wayland support out of the box and Flatpak there to provide the latest apps.
If one has bleeding edge homelab hardware, the latest mainline kernel from ELRepo runs great on Alma. Last I heard, kernel 6.9 (due out in May) will contain a complete rework of the CPU topology logic for heterogeneous CPUs (Intel 12th-gen and newer) https://elrepo.org/wiki/doku.php?id=kernel-ml
I have seen Norah Jones videos in my #Google Discover feed ten times (not exaggerating) in the past week. I have touched the "Not interested" button each time. Yet they still appear.
It's either incompetence or hostility toward the user on Google's part. Or perhaps hostile incompetence? I have nothing against Norah Jones, I'm not interested in watching her videos.
Lincoln, NE was 81 F at 3 PM. Relative humidity 9%. Winds gusting to 38 mph. This is west Texas weather in eastern Nebraska. 80+ degree weather was unheard of in my childhood, growing up in Omaha and Lincoln.
The record high for today is 79, which breaks a 128 year old record by 2 degrees. #newx
@sjvn There's no technical reason why ATSC 3.0 can't build on the features of 1.0 and be even more awesome. Dolby Atmos, 4K HDR. Better signal reach. I was excited.
