you know, it occurs to us also that the social dynamic where somebody with abusive intent shows up and suddenly starts acting like a project owner's new best friend, is in no way unique to software

we doubt we could find it again, but we once read about a confidence scam perpetrated on a restaurant owner which worked the same way

Hey everyone! I am a steering committee member of the Queer Liberation Library, an all-digital non-profit library focused on queer fiction and literature. We are looking for a home for a QLL Mastodon account (that I will be running).

Looking for instance recommendations that are queer-friendly, federate with dot social, and are open to organization accounts. I think a library-specific or queer-specific instance makes a lot of sense.

I remember when I was a kid, if someone was in therapy, people talked about it in hushed tones, like it was a shameful secret, and now people talk about it casually in every day conversation. It's good to see that things can change, even if it's just a bit.

@irenes @RickiTarr This has always been my reason for being really open about mental health, queerness, polyam, kink, and, as I work it out for myself first, plurality. The more I can humanize myself to others, the more it destigmatizes these experiences. This is the kind of 1:1 and day-to-day activism I think is some of the most important work, if you’re in spaces safe enough.

Re-watched X-Men (2000) and told my dad to watch it through the lens of queer liberation and I think I moved the needle with him. (My father is nice, but not kind. He outwardly respects my identity/name/pronouns but still sees being trans as a mental illness).

It is super weird how people infantalize Neurodivergent people, like they don't understand or have sex. The freakiest people I know are Neurodivergent. Not to say that there aren't ace neuros, because obviously there are, but damn even some of the aces are pretty freaky in their own way.
