@mykhaylo Maybe it's the oldest building of some sort, but not one of the oldest concrete buildings. Concrete has been used for a couple of thousand years. (And if we expand to concrete-like materials you can add another 6000 years.)

I haven't read his tweets, but he is still in Russia and I think he is aware of what will probably happen to him if he interferes in Russian politics. He can't run, there's no place to go.

What will happen to a dissident in Russia? Nothing good. He is also wanted by the US, so Russia just needs to throw him out to hurt him. They would probably prefer a window or a "heart attack" though. But that doesn't matter. He knows his position. He can speak his mind as long as it doesn't hurt Russia.

Yesterday I had a 90-minute "meeting". I was alone, in my office, doing a video call, in which I did a normal share of the talking.

The CO₂ level in my office was 700ppm at the start and 2000ppm at the end. Just from me exhaling while talking.

Cognitive function starts getting impaired somewhere between 1200 and 1500ppm.

Please draw your own conclusions as they relate to closed-door, in-person "executive committee", "company leadership", or board meetings.

Or ministerial cabinet meetings. 🥴

@xahteiwi My conclusion is that you need to have a talk with your boss about the quality of your ventilation system. An average smart system with a co2 sensor should increase airflow long before reaching even 1200ppm.

Cringe of cringes, an Orthodox icon box (?) found at the office of "Ukrbud" Maxim Mikitas arrested by NABU last year for massive corruption in construction sector.

If look close, the saints on the icon have faces of real people, including Mikitas himself.

This is a very popular trope in many Russian (and apparently Ukrainian) bootlicking rituals — for example, when Russian MoD built an armed forces church in occupied Crimea, its wall paintings featured Shoigu and other officials marching in clouds along with Jesus and angels. Quoting the classic "Fawlty Towers" Psychiatrist, "there's enough material there for an entire conference."

@kravietz Have you ever been to the Vatican? Most old church paintings are just like this. If you've got money or power your face gets added to angelic images and other church decorations. The russians may be a bit old-fashioned, but they're not doing anything new here.

Nå har jeg funnet en på snabelen som har postet en illustrasjon som sammenstiller davidstjernen og nazitegnet. Jeg skal tenke meg litt om, men jeg føler dette havner over grensen for hva som er greit på snabelen.

Det har vært en del usmakelige nazi-sammenligninger i det siste, men jeg ønsker også en bred meningsdiversitet her også.

Men det er jo en forskjell når man kaller dem nazister.

@Lykkerik @cbt Jeg ser poenget, men den stjernen omfatter alle jøder og ikke bare den israelske stat. Generaliseringer er jo ofte noe man kan slippe unna med, men når det er snakk om en ofte forfulgt gruppe mennesker syns jeg man bør kreve litt mer spissede sammenligninger. Den nåværende regjeringen i Israel er jo på vei over i regelrett fascisme, men befolkningen er pussig nok ikke på vei i samme retning selv om de burde lære seg å stemme litt mer strategisk i valgene sine.
