@FeliciaDavin & thank you for linking to them too :-) I don't currently have anything finished enough to be thinking about covers but I'll definitely be bookmarking all of them!
Got a fawn on my lawn, Fedi. Not responsive. Breathing is sporadic but seems strong when it's here. Any advice?
(don't comment unless you know what to do. If you google this for me, you'll catch a block.)
Update: gonna leave it alone and see if its mum comes back at dusk.
Update update: yes, this is what the local wildlife rescue people say to do. Seems the mums stay away from the little ones a lot because the mums smell tasty and don't want their kids around the tastysmell. The fawn's superpower is not smelling like much. The mum deer just leave them in a place that seems safeish, which, like, fine, I guess I'll take as a compliment.
Who's gonna pull an all nighter on July 4th for #GE2024?
I live in a constituency that could potentially be the first to declare, being in Newcastle, where we go in for competitive election night counting, trying to beat the old enemy, Sunderland. Newcastle has won that race the last two elections, so Sunderland will be trying extra hard this time around. But there's always the new challenger, Blyth.
Heads up to anyone using facebook or insta: you'll receive a notification about your data being used to train AIs. The opt out process is deliberately convoluted and you have to fill out a form to object. This is what I wrote in mine, and the objection was immediately registered as successful, so feel free to copy.
Masto reply bores, this is not a post on which to fart out your opinions about Meta or AI or whatever. So don't. I'm sharing helpful info for people who need it, not for you.
I want to make a custom theme - is there some way to check for accessibility issues, like a tool where I put in some colors and it tells me if that scheme isn't ideal for colorblind people or something?
Spent a fair bit of today de-nettling the back garden. As a result of this I now have rather tingly forearms.
...which of course has led me into thinking about historical domme ads which I'm sure I've seen some advertising use of nettles? Anyway, been thinking about my Crowthorne's stories again. Maybe one of those should feature nettles... http://www.sandralindsey.wales/tag/crowthornes/
Love how the number of trees we planted in our garden means we can now go sit outside in the sunshine without actually having to deal with direct sunlight.
I used to say I was born in the wrong century because in my late teens I could look very much the English Regency ideal of porcelain-pale skin & natural ringlets framing my face :-D
@Remittancegirl ours tend to only sleep on our bed in wintertime when they want the extra warmth - although I have on a number of occasions woken up to find one curled around my head on the pillow!
They are utterly adorable, but live completely by their own rules π
Look I'm not going to wee all over your enjoyment of the EBU's little song writing jamboree. What I will do is assume that since you're all good peopleβ that if you can spare anything you have done your bit. You know, humanitarian wise. And if you haven't yet the key terms are Olive Branch and Pass the Hat.
Google Maps has rolled out an update which shows which parts of your journey are on marked cycle lanes! I might be slow off the mark, Iβve not cycled in a while but... this is cool isnβt it???
TFW you have a particularly smart dog who is good at picking up on words, and have to refer to things by euphemism when planning so as to not cause unreasonable excitement.
If you mention, for example "afternoon walk" he will leap for the front door, so we have to discuss "who is going to perform the perambulation which occurs post lunch?"; similarly if there is a plan to eat sausages they must be referred to as tubular porcine products, treats are things which are unusually pleasant to consume, and cheese is solidified dairy product.
One always uses the actual word at the requisite time, of course.
Thereβs a chance I might get to read one of my poems on national television. Iβm thinking maybe Iβll read the one about what itβs like to have chronic tinnitus. Itβs never been published anywhere, and I think itβs a good one. #poetry#PoetryCommunity
