Sorry, I had to procrastinate more by making a detailed sampling of the Facebook timeline shiteousness. I understated it. Scrolling through 102 postsafter a refresh the breakdown was: 3 from my follows, 79 "suggestions",19 ads, 1 reels item (this time just once but often that comes up multiple times). Worse, posts from my follows only occured in the first 10. The suggestions started off not bad but then got horrible. Ads were universally garbage. Thank god for the fediverse! #fediverse#facebook#enshitification
#Gcompris is a great educational tool for kids. Our 4 year old daughter is used to touch screens and I just couldn't find a way to teach her how to use the mouse. Gcompris managed to do it in 30 minutes.
She is also learning letters, basic math, etc. in the process.
I would be more chatty on here if it weren’t for these two facts:
I come up with social media posts when I can’t write them, and I instantly forget them. Sometimes, they come back to me at the right time. You’re getting only those.
I share many terrible jokes with my partner first, and it's often enough for me not to want to post them online. You’re welcome.
I use the way blogs were used to be early on - sharing thoughts and stuff I do that people can find interesting (for example I often fix stuff on my eKickScooter). Social part of this thing is, that people often come up with a good ideas of how to make things work better/safer/whatever or they do learn "how these things work" in my posts.
Can't get enough of this network actually. I received plumbing advices, electrical advices, IT ones or even social or sport advices. After 2 years I have seen like 2 toxic people here, that's amazing 😀
I've been with #Spotify for 10 years, but I'm now considering switching to #Tidal. I don't like the way Spotify is going: shifting focus to podcasts, paying shit to musicians... I'd rather see my money go to them than to Rogan.
But it's not just about me, I have my whole family on our family plan. I have to be sure about it and convince them. If you have made the switch, what had been your experience?
Does Friendica not support uploading audio? Tried uploading an MP3 but both times I couldn't find the uploaded file in the posting interface.
I'm also using Windows and noticed I had to select all file types to find my MP3 to upload. So maybe Friendica doesn't disallow non-images but the file selection makes it seem like it might.
I want to create a new functionality and I need some ideas. I want to add an option to contacts, so that their posts don't appear in the network timeline anymore. But in difference to "ignored", "collapsed" or "blocked" this has got no further consequences. It is meant especially for contacts that you want to aggregate in a dedicated channel. So for example you could decide to subscribe to a lot of news channels, but you don't want to see them in the network timeline, since they post that often. Instead you create a channel for them and browse them from time to time. Same could be an option for groups or for feeds.
This filter would work for threads that are started by this special account. I would try to expand this to posts that are reshared by these accounts or by threads that are fetched, because this account commented in the thread. (The last two parts could be more challenging)
My questions are:
Do you think that this is a good idea?
Could it be done better than an option on the contact page?
How could this be named, so that users don't misunderstand the functionality?

I remember - when I had #hubzilla account - I used their "affinity" feature to filter this. Affinity was number from 0-100 (iirc) and you used slider to chose what will appear in timeline. I can imagine creating separate channels for close contacts with affinity <50 and "filler" contacts with affinity <50 afterwards. Hubzilla had slider to chose how close contacts you would like to see on your timeline.
Imho by to mělo bejt nějak řešitelný přímo v rámci střídače
A couple months ago I abruptly stopped my LEGO activity that was eating at me because I felt that I had to clear my living room of all the set bags I was storing in while awaiting for parts or building. With no end in sight, I ended up burning out until my partner suggested that we could put them away in a closet until I was ready to resume in a better mood.
Ever since, I've had trouble finishing tasks that I wanted to start in the first place:
Unlocking a different ending in Cyberpunk 2077 with a new character.
Writing a review of Cyberpunk 2077 on my blog.
Implementing a moderation system in Friendica.
Designing a board game inspired by the video game Northgard.
Restoring a few big 1980-90s pirate/castle/space LEGO sets that were donated to me by fellow parents in my kid's class.
At the same time, I'm longing to find something else to do that will keep me engaged, locking me in a mixed apathy-restlessness feeling there probably is a German word for.
I don't know what to do to get out of this rut, I feel like it's been long enough that it would have passed on its own if it was just temporary.
@hypolite
Well, I started slowly by buying eScooter and use it instead of car for reaching my workplace. No need to have big goals early on.
At this moment I'm slowly moving to bicycle instead of eScooter in my spare time. As I'm not "pushing" myself anymore I figured out I look for reasons to "ride my bicycle" (Mr. Mercury approves 😀 )
> And now attention, on the left is the so-called farmer with the Russian ambassador in Poland, on the right is the same so-called farmer with anti-Ukrainian and anti-Semitic slogans in Warsaw, what does this banner have to do with Ukrainian wheat and the EU Green Deal?
This is probably the best clue to who is organising this iteration of the #Poland border blockade - Piotr Panasiuk is one of the most vicious anti-Ukrainian and pro-Russian activists in Poland, he’s literally quoting Putin on daily basis on his social media.
@kravietz
We have same funny group in the #Czechia - #Prague right at this moment. Mostly pro-russian puppets parading over Prague streets. Everybody sane in agriculture is already distancing himself from them @joaocosta
EU will likely discontinue one of the last #Russia gas import routes through #Ukraine:
The European Union sees no need to extend an agreement to transport Russian gas to Europe via Ukraine, ahead of the contract’s planned expiry at the end of the year, the bloc’s energy policy chief said on Thursday. Energy commissioner Kadri Simson said the EU’s analysis indicated that countries served by the gas transit route - which include Austria, Italy and Slovakia - would be able to source alternative supply.
If you’re wondering why two years into the war Russian gas is still flowing through Ukraine (albeit in homeopathic amounts when compared to 2021), it’s because a number of EU countries hugely dependent on gas asked Ukraine to continue transit while they build replacement capabilities. Now they apparently did it.
