@NormanDunbar see, I don’t think cucumber is almost tasteless. It tastes horrible - and it taints anything it comes into contact with. Like celery. Yuck!

Btw, I eat between 8-10 veg a day. Just not including celery or cucumber 😂😂😂

Highly amused watching Martin Compston’s Norwegian Fling & he and Phil being really not keen on the Norwegian delicacy of roasted smoked sheep’s heids. Apparently totally unaware that till the 1950s at least sheep’s heid broth was a Scottish staple 🤷‍♀️

Listening to Radio Scotland this a.m & their take on the big opinion poll was that it was all obviously correct - except for the bit about the winning 41 seats. So bought the Sunday Times to look for myself. I’m attaching their seat projection maps & well, you can see for yourself what they project happening in Scotland - and it’s not an SNP wipeout for obvious reasons. Which oddly, none of the commentators can bring themselves to mention

I was in Mallorca for a week from 11/3-18/3 & couldn’t help but notice the multi-lingual signage signage everywhere. This example was in the bus we took to Port de Soller. The local language always first, followed by Spanish, then English. In this case it included German.
I can report no ‘confusion’ or ‘hardship’ was experienced by anyone as a result of this linguistic diversity

I have now completed the nine volume books series The Expanse by James A Corey, and what a ride it has been.

Its quite an extraordinary feat of sustained (coherent) imagination & I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who likes world-building SF.

With its multi-viewpoint narrative strategy but also with it central core of crucial characters, this is space opera of the highest quality.

And the finale is wonderfully pleasing in plotting terms!

Its been a joy!

Sitting on the 2.00pm train back from London King’s Cross & there’s someone who has been on a phone call the entire journey - so far. Without headphones or earbuds, so we are all forced to listen to both sides of the convo 🙄

I’ve noticed this ‘no earbuds’ thing before. It is so rude and tedious beyond belief 😒

@qurlyjoe we have the glottal stop as well (bitten off ‘t’ sound) but that doesn’t feel right for ‘ch’. It might be a glottal something though……I clean forgot to study linguistics at Uni 😂
